Lol you deleted that post? Why?

And yeah a few quirks. But nothing major. I think you could put a deposit down now and in 2020 by the time you get it hopefully more has been worked out haha

I still love the simplicity of it over most other options.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Materials used make it not a tent.... Hmm

So what you're saying is, upcharge by way of marketing wank and hair splitting.

Hmm from where? I haven't heard of the glue or stiching issues. Other little things like water and dust intrusion. But nothing like that

Edit: How was OBDR? I hope good weather and nice vistas?

Yeah it's been in the final production phase for almost two weeks now, not really sure what's going on. I guess I can't blame them if they're out on their own adventures instead of working on my tent...

    Hopefully pick it up soon.

Yes the early versions have had some issues, which seem to have been mostly fixed by now. The fabric has been changed to a lighter, more durable material, the sealant has been changed, the hinge tubes are aluminum now, etc. I'll give GFC credit, they're fixing all their issues while still working away at their massive backlog. Not bad for a small production shop.

Nice! It looks like I'll be around, because I probably won't be picking up the aforementioned GFC. Let me know if you guys want to meet up for a beer.

Yeah it was great weather, rained just enough to keep the dust down and the puddles full.

Did you guys end up going into the Sawtooths?

It was amazing. Weather was great and we had some outstanding campsites. I think one of the highlights was the Elk herds. I had never heard a whole herd bugling so much and so loud for so long. Memorable!

Nice. Why not just come by the house on Friday after work.

Few minor issues with mine, but overall still happy with it. Biggest issue right now being the front and rear tubes, but it sounds like AL tubes will be sent to everyone here shortly.

I think most of the complaining is 3rd genners who will complain about anything anyways, or guys just stirring the pot.

Not sure I would jump on one now given the new pricing and lead times, but all depends on your use. I still think its the best option for guys who really beat on their rigs, don't want a more serious camper build-out, but want a good balance of comfort and ease of use as well.

Yeah agreed, I got in before the price hike, and before the wait time got really bad. Otherwise I’d probably re-think it.

What the GFC has that no other camper/tent really offers is lightweight functionality. You either have an open bed with an RTT (I suppose you could have one on a canopy, but that’s a huge wind drag and pretty heavy), or you have a 400 lb Drifter. There’s not really anything else in between.

    Okay! Deal!

(I have the single cab too ;) )

I have some new thoughts on how to accomplish a nicely covered bed with a rtt on it and still low like how I've had mine for a while.

Just need a damn shop to start playing with ideas...

    Man I miss fabricating.

Ha that would look pretty funny on the little truck.

If I already had an RTT I would try to make something work as well, but as long as I’m upgrading, I might as well grade all the way up lol

Yeah I'd rock one. But still with Mike..there's a lot I could do with 6500 bucks haha

I'd love to see a GFC on a single cab haha I be it would be super rad!

I'll argue that a Wildernest fits in there. I've read it weighs in the 250lb ball park. I can only think of two things that would make it better, a steel frame and windoors. Setup and tear down may take a minute or two longer but the extra space to stand and not worry about removing the bed panels is what makes it better than a GFC. Can be had at a 5th of the price too.

Yeah but finding a nice one is hard.

And the bed is tiny. Dan wouldn't fit. I barely fit and two people was super crowded.

Did love the interior space though. Nothing made now can match that. I bet with a new tent on it and a few tweaks to the pole setup it would work really great for most people.

But when you add a new tent in you double the cost or more haha

I did see a cherry looking one in red Lodge the other day. Looked brand new

I guess I was thinking more about current production offerings, but yeah the wildernest meets those criteria for the most part. Still not a huge fan of fiberglass for offroading, but it was definitely ahead of its time.
