Never Never Modify! Keep it aggravation free!
I had a 99 access cab, 2008 access cab and both had great handling. I went with a 2009 4 door long bed and it was a pain to park and the handling was terrible on the highway. It felt like a clumsy piece of crap and no fun to drive. I now have a 2019 access cab and it's much better. Its easy to park and you can zigzag around like a sports car. I can fully understand what you mean. They feel way to big with the 4 door long bed in my opinion.

So am I the only one who hasn’t had quality issues with their third gen? I see people bad mouthing them online yet can’t help but wonder how many of them actually own one. I have over 100k on mine and haven’t even had to replace the battery.

It's a mid-size truck, not a 18 wheeler. Takes very little skill to drive.

No you’re not. It’s just that the people who don't are usually out having fun instead of bitching and those who do are quite vociferous about it.

    That’s my theory...

Love having a DCLB. The length has never bothered me with a backup camera. That being said, I have a Roxor and FJ40 for trail use. My Tacoma is my hauler and I sometimes sleep in it, which is why I got the long bed.

The DCLB looks IN proportion and the short bed the other way around. The short bed is abruptly cut off at the fender flare and the enormous front end of the 3rd gen makes it look like the bed is only 10% of the actual truck lol.

Aesthetically, I find the SB much more pleasing.

What you really need is a Ridgeline....easy enuff to park even grandma can do it, plenty of room for the pups, wife will love it (was designed for her), superior engineering and build quality..... and plenty of space in the bed for a bag of mulch from Lowe's.

My director traded in his TRD for one and loves it. Another admin traded his F150 and neither are sorry. Not as cool and "manly" as a Yota but a very nice ride.

23,500 on my 2019 (bought new in Jan) - use it on our farm also, no issues - it drives differently than my GM trucks/SUVs but it is a different vehicle, but I knew that before I bought it.

What would you rather pay for?
The 2020 t4r would be my route (I had a '17). The 20's have a couple more bells and whistles compared to the non exsistent ones on 19 and before. And the price difference from a dealer between a 19 and 20 is a joke.

Get a t4r or stay put in my opinion. Dogs will thank you when your rear window rolls down

The extra foot would not be worth spending hundreds/thousands to replace. I would keep it, personally. There are times I wish I had a longer bed. Other times, I'm glad for the shorter bed. Grass never stays greener on the other side.

To all those touting 4Runners. Why are you here? If I didn't need a truck bed, I wouldn't have bought....A TRUCK! Sell it and get a 4Runner. They're nice. I had one of those, too. If I didn't want to haul crap in the bed, I'd not have sold it. But I wanted a truck. Manual was a huge bonus. Win win.

I will strive to apply his advice to my beer drinking. I thought I was already at my max potential but know I can do better! :D
