Anyone know if this covers a 2019 Taco? If not, is there a new tsb for the 2019 models? Mine is in the dealer for this noise.

    FROM TSB

Some 2016 – 2018 model year Tacoma Double Cab 4WD vehicles equipped with a BD22 rear differential may exhibit a whine noise from the rear of the vehicle.

Are you concerned about the noise? My dealer is playing the we cant hear it game, wants me to come in and drive it with them which is fine, but I live 95 miles away. They said they think its coming from the air intake.
My Taco is a 2019 SR access cab 2.7 auto. Base model.

It's not your air intake... that's funny though :) and I don't think you can completely get rid of the whine. I have the TSB performed on my 17 and it did reduce the whine so it isn't constant in the 50mph range but it still whines on acceleration and in-between low gear changes. It's better though

I don't know the severity of yours vs mine or anyone else mine is 50mph -55mph and most the time I don't notice only under certain circumstances do I notice. I also haven't driven my truck in like 3-4 weeks and ive only had it a few months. I have the radio up most the time too.

It's loud! I can hear it over the radio. Evan does it at slower speeds at light throttle. I was a tech for Chevrolet for 15 years before I retired and I know what a rear diff noise is.

You should be able to do a ride along, techs have applied tsb's outside of specific date ranges before and get warranty approval from the service manager.

Service adviser called, They wont touch the rear because they think the noise is coming from the front. Going Saturday to do a ride along.....I'll keep y'all posted. The side and pinion gears are adjustable. The 8" has the threaded adjusters and the 8.75 has the shims.

    A. Ahahahaha. Ahahahahahahahahaa.

I have the same noise, i’ve taken it to multiple dealers and basically received the jerk off motion.
Most recently, they say it’s likely “normal” and want to compare it to another stick shift - which they didn’t have access to.

Every auto ‘19 I test drove had the howl. My manual has zero, so far. I figure if they howl with 6mi on the clock it’s a bad sign for later.

That’s my concern — just because they all do it, doesn’t mean it’s not a problem

Much like overheating land rovers, or any safety recall ever

What’s especially funny is there’s already a TSB to fix the earlier years. If they tell me it’s normal i am going to raise so much hell it burns their ass hairs
