Just depends on how much you clean your truck and keep it out of harsh weather.

Replacement lenses will be pretty cheap by the time you need them. Save your money.

Been waxing my bike and car headlights for 30 years with no ill effects. As glass turned into plastic nothing changed.

Everyone's mileage may vary, but mine never has..

This is true unless you have a pro lol. Those will always have questionable pricing.

My plan is to get morimoto xb headligsts when mine go to crap. If i keep coating them, im hoping to get at least 4 years.

I use lamin-x on my IS300 and have had good results. I've had it on for a couple of years now and the film and headlights are holding up really well.

Lamin-x doesn't make anything for the 3rd gen Tacoma, but I would assume similar results with xpel or other films.

i put xpel headlight film on my tacoma. it runs about $60. precut and fairly easy installation.

i had suntek ppf installed on the headlights of my mini cooper 8 years ago and they still look brand new.

+3 on Plexus! I use it on the headlights, my softopper rear window, motorcycle windshield, and the outside of my helmet shield (pinlock lenses dont like the stuff). Its great stuff and yeah, I remember the days when it was around $6 a can. I miss them dearly!

It’s not porous. It’s Dry as a bone. Polycarbonate is dried for 4hrs at 200f before injection. No

    imho
for all the money you'll spend in 8 years (when headlights generally start to visibly craze from UV)
on these potions which are very dubious at best at preventing crazing (you think a thin wax or goop from a bottle can fight the SUN ?)
you can just go buy new OEM headlight assemblies.

save 75 bucks a year and in 8 years you have 600 bucks to buy new assemblies

or buy someones OEM when they go to aftermarket

Used it for multi years on the isinglass on my boats-and boats live in a much harsher environment then our vehicles.
And has worked well on my cars/trucks as well.

Where does the $75/year savings come from by not using a UV protectant spray?

I have recently switched from Protectant 303 to Protect-All which is found at RV stores and Walmart's RV supplies section, but not found at auto parts stores. With either product if used just on headlights, a $10 bottle would last several years, so not a big expense.

the pain and suffering you deal with when 8 years later your lights look like shite anyway

your mileage may vary. I just plan on replacing the assembly with OEM for vehicles I own and plan to keep going to the grave

I don't think he meant $75/yr in savings...just save $75/yr towards new headlights. Good luck making it to 8 years though, with no PM.

You are right, LaminX does not make precut film for these 3rd gen headlights. I ordered 2-916CL Two 9" x 16" Clear Universal Film Covers Clear - 12 mil, made templet for each headlight, cut the film, and done. Dude at LaminX said they can't make a precut due to the curvatures of the lens.
I have been using LaminX on my European glass headlights for 20 years, replace every 5 for the best clarity.

This isn't the headlight but the 3rd brake light. I posted this in it's own thread and most of the comments thought it was UV damage. This is on a 2018. After a contentious meeting with the dealership they will be replacing it in a couple of weeks. They have to pull down the headliner to access it so not the quickest repair. Once replaced I will definitely be looking into some kind of UV protection on all of my light covers.
