Tricked my ride out with my unit sticker on the back glass! I'm such a rebel.
I downgraded from a f150. Still trying to figure out why I would give up Eco boost for underpowered v6.
    I traded my 6.5 bed for a 5.5
    36 gallon tank for a 19
    22mpg for underpowered 19mpg
    375 hp for 278 hp
470 torque for 265 foot pounds
    And the cheery on top:
    17000 dollar note for a 43000.

You might be thinking that I'm a drooling idiot by now and you'd be right but here is the silver lining: I'm in the taco club now! I should fit right in.

I've got a SB, and kinda wish I had gotten a LB. And I really would love to be driving a T4R, but I need a truck so often... I feel your pain.

Had to look up the length of a long bed double cab. At 225.5", it's an inch longer than a suburban and within 6" of a crewcab F150 with the short bed. OP, go for the 4runner if you're absolutely concerned about length and don't care for having a bed.

If you have issues with parking then you are doing it wrong. Always back in when possible.

I was in the same boat a year ago. I had a 2016 double cab off-road. It just didn't have same build quality as the 1999 Tacoma I owned for 18 years before upgrading. The new truck was made in Mexico, and you could tell.

I traded in for a 2019 4runner and I'm happy I did. I miss the bed sometimes, but that's all I miss. The T4R handles better off road, and my wife loves it, which is a bonus. I'll only ever buy a Toyota with a VIN# that starts with a J.

Good luck with your desision. Just don't buy a Chevy or ford :)

I taught my wife, a native of the Philippines how to drive in my dclb. The one thing we can agree on is it can be difficult to forward park, but even she's a pro at parallel and reverse parking. I've yet to be in a situation where it was too difficult.

Same. I bought my third gen before there were tons running around, so I didn’t have much to go on as far as looks go. I almost pulled the trigger on one and I’m glad I didn’t. Lifted a LB would likely look
Okay, but in stock for to me they look funny.

I have no issues with how my truck drives. I do however have a 3” lift, 33” tires and 1.25” wheel spacers, all on an otherwise stock front end..... The camber angle isn’t optimal at all, so if someone jumped in my truck and drove highway speeds they would likely wander around the lane a lot. My truck is no speed demon (about the slowest vehicle I’ve owned) but it actually handles surprisingly well for what it is in my opinion. For a truck it’s fairly agile.

    @edgerat

Recently switched from a 17 access taco to a 19 4runner. If you're thinking of making that switch wait to get the 2020 for the tech upgrade. I didn't personally like the lack of real backseats in my access cab, the 4runner is much shorter than your setup.

    Taco pros
    Better tech
    Better mileage
    Quicker acceleration
    More responsive handling
    Better for working out of

    4r pros
    Heated seats
Comparable storage to long bed with seats folded down
    Dog friendly power rear window
    Sex appeal

My 4runner doesn't have keyless entry or push to start, really miss those.

I think your vehicle choice really comes down to how you personally use your vehicle. You should really consider all of your options and make sure you're fully aware of what's available for how much.

If I had to do my recent switch over again it might have been a Lexus UX250h

No ford, no chevy, now considering no taco? .... looks like you are headed for a ram. Get a 3500 ram, diesel, add a 12" lift, and then you never have to worry about parking because you simply drive over everything. Get a model with a sun roof so you can stand on the center console, with shotgun in hand, torso out the sun roof, and have your wife drive through the desert to flush birds. Win, win... win. tiger blood!

Wait wait, you’re saying that a 4R is even slower than a Tacoma???? HOLY CRAP!!

It's the ancient 5 speed automatic, technically it has more torque. Im also just slightly less comfortable gunning it because my 4runner sits higher and has a higher center of gravity. Definitely more roll potential.

[Edit] the 4runner is a pro so it's 1" higher than other 4runners

I hit 110 in my taco a couple times and will definitely never be doing that in the 4runner

It’s a quick truck for sure. Quicker than the 4.0. Especially with a manual
