Raidercraig you actually didnt do too bad. Invoice is generally about 3k less than MSRP. So they made maybe about $500 on the sale of the vehicle excluding options and fees.

When I was working for toyota about 6 months back, those wanting a TRD PRO would have to custom order the vehicle and wait 4-6 months from assembly to arrival at the dealership. Because these were custom order, management would not discount them whatsoever. When I was helping my dad look for his truck this past weekend, there were several stores that had at least two TRD Pro Tacomas sitting on the lot so things must have changed. General Rule: Dealerships will always give a greater discount on vehicles that they have on the lot vs ones they have to bring in.

Where do you live that they’re willing to make such a great deal? What model year did you buy, and when did you buy?
I don’t see where all the money is that they will make on the sale of the truck. Less than invoice is a loss. The only money in it for them is on the trade.
I also didn’t want the DCSB. I wanted the access cab. Problem is that there are very few to choose from.

You paid far less than invoice for that truck. Congratulations on a fantastic deal.

We were chatting with our salesperson while we were waiting for the paperwork. He confirmed about the units, it goes all the way down to the salesperson. If they hit a certain number of a certain model Toyota kicks them down some spiff money. I use to sell appliances, same deal there as well although not usually tied to how many but which models.

You really have to do a lot of research & homework to find the truly great deals--they are out there, but you DO have to seek them out. You may have to do a fly & drive as well.

My truck is in my flair...2019 TRD OR DCSB. Bought it exactly one month ago from today. Bought in the Gulf States Toyota region.

I did look around to find a good deal. Camelback Toyota is well known for giving fair to great deals. That said, around Arizona in the summer, there isn’t a whole lot of wiggle room. The trucks are in high demand. I could have swung a hell of a deal on a two wheel drive with a four banger. I could have done better on a white truck, as they have so many in stock. I am pretty happy with what I got and what I paid for it.

I think I did OK. Maybe not FANTASTIC, but OK.

-$2500 off sticker on a 2019 Pro and good value for my trade (per KBB/NADA).

The guys at Earnhardt Toyota in Phoenix did OK by me. And considering just down the road at Desert Toyota in Tucson, they wanted almost $10k more :frusty: for the identical truck, I can't really complain.

$2500 off a Pro model is a great deal in my book. What color did you pick?

Camelback Toyota was very aggressive on their pricing. $2500 off MSRP plus full KBB trade value. Very transparent buying experience. My business will always be at this dealership

Got white. It also had a couple nickle/dime things that weren't on the sheet. Had the tailgate inserts, d rings and cleats and the dealer had the front windows tinted. None of them showed up on the sticker. Nothing earth shattering, but nice little things I would have done on my own anyway that would have cost me a couple hundred bucks.

I really appreciate all the posts here and other threads. I've been lurking the past couple months and after pestering the wife I finally got the OK to trade-in or sale my 18 Acura tlx for a taco.
I thought I wanted a pro but switched my mind to an or dcsb. I'm in so cal and will probably move to the Boise Idaho area in the next 2-5 years. So sorry for the intro in this thread. I'm looking for someone who got a great deal in my area. I will travel for a slamming deal but want 4wd. I've read 2500 off for a pro is a good deal. I think I need leather and after 3 lots I couldn't find an ordcsb with leather. Found a long bed with a sticker of 40k and just got a text saying he will discount it 4k, but I want the 5ft bed. I thought I found a great deal someone from so cal got but couldn't find it after searching for over an hour in this thread. Does someone know where to go in the greater LA - Orange County area. Thanks for letting me share.

Try Longo Toyota for a TRD OR/Sport, or Toyota of Orange if you want a Pro. They have 26 collecting dust on the lot. They don’t list prices online, so I would go online and copy down the stock numbers that you are interested in and visit the dealership on the last day of the month. Offer them $3000 under sticker with your checkbook clearly in your hand.

Also, get on online quote from Freeman Toyota in Northern CA. They have killer pricing on TRD’s right now. Use their quote for a local price match on a identical truck.

I'm considering trading in my 17 for a 19, so just got into the last 10 pages of this thread.

Great info here about nailing down a price with the salesman, but I'm not seeing too many people describe the next stage in the process with the finance guy who is really in charge of making sure the dealership does ok on the deal.
When i bought my 17, i had to hammer on the finance guy a bit to get the platinum protection package at the price I wanted too.

What are you guys looking for and negotiating with that dude, regarding extended protection or pre-paid maintenance?

I think most of us aren’t getting the extended protection to be honest. The few that are have been purchasing out of state with other dealers as you can shop around for it. For extended warranty that is. Might be able to search this forum for some examples.

Pre-paid maintence is usually a lot more expensive than what you can do yourself. Tire rotations and oil changes don’t require many tools or much of your time. BUT if you need to have it then I would do that with the salesman. Get the price you want and then tell him to sweeten it by x amount of oil changes, rotations, etc or you walk. My two cents.
