And replace. Trace back till the pipe gets better. Then cut and splice in new piping

    No.

That's a lot of fabrication prep. The welding is 10 minutes...tops.

    Yes.

Maybe I'm just a slow welder. That's like half an hour of straight welding for me, at least. He welded all the bends, and then all the places where he doubled up plates.

Yeah I have to be mindful of it when welding a lot in a short amount of time, like that skid plate above. Maybe with a 240 welder it’d be easier to crank the heat and move faster, and the duty cycle would allow that.

My Miller 211 did good. I tried to run a couple of those long beads non stop and right after one another. It's running on 240v.

The best thing about this project was that I got a lot of practice. Got to try different settings, stick out, wire speed, and tried to move the puddle in different ways. I tried to make a straight nice bead like you see those pros on IG do with just a straight push or pull, nope, can't do it. Lol

Honestly? I busted up there. It was a few years ago and I let nerves get to me. Busted on something simple too. That was back before they kicked Fluor out and all that.

Yeah that must have been you i talked to a while back prob 2 years ago. I almost went and tested for Carolina energy at vc summer right before they shut it down, instead I went and took 2 monsters and stainless sch10 for Thompson Construction Been working at a solvay chem plant in sc doing reactor repairs and replacing piping for 2.5 years at the same place. Wondered if opting out of the nuclear plant was a good idea turns out it was.

I still have regrets from busting but it’s life. Would’ve been cool to work at a nuke. I’ve been practicing my pipe for a little bit on and off but I’m ready for a test to get out of this structural life. Gonna hit the road once falls gets closer and jobs start popping up again.

2.5 years at the same place is a dang good gig for our line of work. That’s a blessing to many many people
