those replaced the B425 inserts, but im not sure they are of the same quality as the NWB Nippon Wiper Blade company in Japan I think they are now Chinese or cheaper Asian manufactors. I bought some new OEM inserts for my 2nd GEN and they sucked im sure they aren't of the same quality as the original NWB inserts

As long as my truck doesn't smell like ass, which is pretty typical after a long road trip, I'm fine.

I prefer no smell. I bought my truck in 2005, and apparently the orig owner smoked. On a hot day, I can still smell it, which serves as a reminder to throw a couple new drier sheets in the seat pockets.

Damn that sucks. Thanks for the heads up. I've always just had OEM blades and swapped in new OEM inserts when needed. Bummer on the taco inserts going NLA

Been there done that, wasn't the best performing for me. But for many folks it is the best wiper they've used they say

You guys are seriously overthinking this wiper blade thing.

2 pages of VIN lookups and OEM part numbers for wiper blades really seems like something that you'd expect in the 3rd gen section.

After getting the part number from whatstcp, I ordered a couple of wiper blade inserts for $5.59 each from my dealer's parts man. The same guy who told me the only thing available was the complete blade for $21 each.

I know this is a laughable subject (when I heard the price I laughed, and then I cried!), but I tried Trico and a couple other blades right after I bought the truck (21 years ago). They just didn't cut it for me. After about a year they would start to streak, then skip on the return stroke. I replaced them with the OEM part 'cause they don't crap out until six or seven years down the road.

It's worth it to me to always have quiet, non-streaking wipers, and for $10 a set I'll keep on using GPT.

Thanks to all for the replies, 'specially the one about "payment plan". Shoulda asked for it at the time ;).

I don't know what kind of magic blades you get, but the factory ones that came on my '17 4Runner lasted a year.

I buy silicone inserts from China ( eBay) about $4.00 a pair. I keep them in stock and after about 4 or 5 “rebuilds” I get new complete wipers and start over again.

I found that if you wipe the blade with alcohol and you clean the area of the windshield where it sits really well when you wash the truck, most any wiper blade will last around a year. Ive had my truck 2 years, and have had 2 sets of blades on it. The Bosch may have lasted a tad longer than the Trico, but both were at or near 12 months or so when they needed replacing.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
The secret to being able to use the very budget friendly inserts is to keep the OE frames in place. Once those are gone, you're hosed in price to replace them.

And don't let the naysayers get you down. I learned decades ago that for some reason the OE rubber bits, which includes wipers, all fit better and last longer than aftermarket. That's Mazda, Nissan, Honda and Toyota at least. And if you do it right, as you are, they cost way less than the over hyped parts house stuff, and last about 2x as long.

This from a guy who's vehicle bakes in the Fl sun and needs wipers to work well in monsoons.
