What did you use on the floor? My gf is trying to sell her house that has all original wood floors, but they don't shine like that

Certified Grand Master electrician here, something about this looks wrong to me. I wish I knew how to navigate the NEC manual better. Anyone have any ideas?

It's all grounded correctly and everything is bolted down tight but I know what you mean.

Little update on my current project

Got our concrete all poured and backfilled , installed a bunch of drainage / electrical wire & conduits / waterlines / irrigation control wire conduits etc .

Area under deck and out to pond is compacted for future paving stone patio , rest will be grass and plantings

Cut and fit our 6x6 fir deck posts onto the knife plates we cast in the columns and planter corners and yesterday started framing our deck .

Our deck framing is 2x10 fir with Vycor Deck Protector adhered to the top of joists . Double and triple members get a drainage mat between the plies and then Vycor Deck Protector will be applied over the top of the built up elements .

Deck joists along this front portion of the deck run the long way between short beams that join over the posts because the designer did not want to change the direction of the decking .

The railings will be cable rail with a 1x2 steel post face mounted to the deck framing / fascia and we were worried about the railing creating an overturning moment in the outside joists so we doubled the outside and also added blocking on 32" centres to the outside joist bay

Post to beam connection is 4 , 3/8" x 18" GRK RSS screws per post

Need to strip the front porch paint off of the wood. Pressure washer was a no-go and at the current rate it will take years

What's better; paint stripper or sander?

Stripper to get the big chunks off then sand to finish the details and prep for new finish.
Unless you have access to a floor drum sander. Those things are awesome.

That's what I'm thinking. Part of me is tempted to rip the damn thing up and not even worry about it.

After stripper is applied what's the best way to remove the leftover gunk?

Wide putty knife. I actually like to use plastic for stripper because it save you from trying to clean it up after. Don’t forget your PPE. Whatever you do,
Don’t think latex gloves will save your hands from the burn of the stripper. They melt and you’ll be fucked. Get real chemical resistant gloves. I’ve learned my Lesson.

Good gloves, and a tyvek suit will do wonders.

Anyone ever done a removable countertop over a washer and dryer? It will be a solid surface quartz type top and the goal is to have it so my wife can remove it in a pinch if needed to turn off the water.

Planning on staining. Not feeling very confident about that now. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the wood clean enough

The one under the deck is a planter , the one on its own to the right of the deck is going to be an EPDM lined feature pond
