I do literally nothing to my blades and that's all they last is a year.

That hasn't been my experience with the 2 Toyotas I current own and bought new (my Tacoma I bought was barely used, less than 9 months old). Both the Corolla and 4Runner OEM blades barely lasted a year. Much of that time they've been garage kept, too.

they tried that BS on me once last decade with the 3rd top brake that was out, something I had changed before as a teen lubeTech so pretty sure I could climb up there and get new bulbs put in for a few dollars less lol

so I called them on their $20+ charge to show me they were not working (and they were, the service lady just said oh i guess they are ok, nevermind)

how did you know that is where i recently got raped at getting wipers for the beater Corolla, all I needed were the inserts! and had to spend nearly $25 on the whole piece! the wipers were in bad shaped, half separated and dangly.
I did ask the O'Reilly place down the way and they said they may have inserts in the back somewhere so I must go and check for my truck as soon as i get the chance

why is your washer reservoir broken then (iirc)?
and the dealers I have used have never filled my gas tank WTH? i want some of that good stuff!

I often got that feedback from the Vette, 'Stang, s2000 and 240SX owners until I stepped past them on the podium at autox. ;) A few wanted a ride along after that.

Just like driving off road, sometimes the driver matters more than the marquee. Although I had more $ in that suspension that most of the 'level lifted' rigs around here. For being a street legal it was pretty crisp, yet compliant enough for road trips.

But hey, say what you will. I drive a 5 lug Tacoma that I added a chrome grill and SS trim rings to. Do you really think I care what others think about my choices? :p

Oh yea. Just sold the '04 Highlander and picked up '14 RAV Limited. Goal was to update the people mover and get better MPG. Working so far. Again, not something most around here would fawn over. Which is fine by me too.

no doubt about that, i am nearing the point of calling Toyota corporate everyday to get my truck back in stride with a few NECESSARY parts that are much needed
my particular situation should provide me some benefits I would think...

i have an OEM air filter element priced out in the cart at $15 ... is that too high? its been a long time since I have needed a new one and don't recall what price it was the last time

    what kind of alcohol?

does this work well to keep long-lived wipers in severe icing conditions? i never thought of spritzing them with alchohol to de-ice them (would that work?)
I try to chunk that icy buildup stuff off while freezing my fingers in the dead of winter to keep in good working order, so far the rubber condition is doing well but had been long time since I put in new inserts

I can't remember the last time I bought wiper blades. It must have been years ago. I have Bosch Icons I think. They are at least 3 years old, I'd say.

Whenever I wash the truck, I always swipe the rubber part of the wiper with the soap sponge. I also use Rain-X, which keeps the glass slick so your wipers don't get beat to death by rough and porous surfaces.

As for Rain-X, all you need is one initial application. After that, just use the Rain-X washer fluid. You'll never have to mess with the windshield again. The other windows never have a problem. I think I occasionally wax all of them.
