    Oh man.

First *new* car I bought was an '02 Jetta. OH. MY. GOD. Something broke on that car every month until I traded it in. A couple thousand miles on the car and I drove it to Vegas. On the ride home, in 100+ degree heat, the passenger window motor exploded and dropped the window into the door. Which would have been fine, if the transmission didn't decide to also take a crap at the same time. So I had car that crazy-shifted 2nd-to-3rd and had no window with the AC blasting for 200+ miles. YAY. That's just one story, but it sort of summarizes my whole VW experience.

My second *new* vehicle was 2007 Frontier (2wd). Solid truck. Loved it. Did what I told it to. Got rid of it because it wasn't 4wd and I was asking it to do too much work.

    Also, don't buy a VW.

(edit: yes, I got a brand new transmission and new power windows in two doors after her first road trip)

And yeah, I still miss her.

The first thing I noticed was a flutter whenever the turbo would discharge pressure, primarily while shifting gears. After some investigation, I realized that the BOV was installed backwards (granted, not the car's fault). This raised so many questions: How the fuck did this happen? How the fuck does the thing even drive in this condition? I reinstalled it the correct way and the flutter went away.

Some other issues - The entire climate control system stopped working unexpectedly. No heat, no AC, and no fan was a lot of fun living in the high desert. But at least we could roll down the windows... until that broke as well. The goddamn front bumper fell off one day for no good reason. Every electrical component in that car either failed or glitched out. I actually find it impressive that so many things managed to break in only 3 years of ownership.

Haha yeah man I just like change lol. I’m very happy with my 2017 though. No plans on ever getting rid of this one. I will however be purchasing a 2015-2019 mustang shelby GT 350 When this Tacoma is paid off. I miss the fun factor of my mustang. I need the best of both worlds lol.

Funny about the bumper! My Parents had a 2000 VW Jetta. So much stupid shit broke in that car.

It just became downright silly after awhile. Cruise control would randomly turn itself on or off, sometimes it wouldn't let me shift into reverse, power steering failed mid-drive, alternator, wheel bearings, a brake caliper bolt ruptured, it leaked fluid like it had gonorrhea, probably more but I've been actively trying to forget for the past 7 years

I am assuming daily driver / pickup trucks?

    1) 1977 Dodge D100 225 cuin slant six. This was an awful vehicle (ride, handling, comfort, noise, etc.) but it was very reliable. Outside of routine maintenance, I replaced a starter and a u-joint. 250,000 kms driven.

    2) 1985 GMC Sierra 305 cuin. This was a really nice truck (fully loaded). No mechanical issues but it started to rust and look crappy as a result. 40,000 kms driven.

    3) 1987 Chevrolet Silverado 350 cuin. Another nice truck but the transmission failed (THM700R4) for no reason (never abused, never towed anything). 20,000 kms driven.

    4) 1996 Chevrolet K1500 5.7L Z71. Beautiful truck, great ride, handling, powertrain control all excellent. High cost of ownership however... numerous issues (cruise control stalk, valve body, intake manifold gaskets, axle seals, ABS computer, fuel pump, AC, distributor, etc.), I spent $10,000 in repairs over the years... unacceptable. 160,000 kms driven.

    5) 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3L Z71. My favorite of the bunch, including now. Not a perfect shop record (AC blower fan relay, 2(!) starter motors, axle seals) but not too bad. I miss this truck every day. 100,000 kms driven.

I have had lots of play cars and other daily driver cars, this list is just pickup trucks.

The only thing I miss about it is taking the doors off. 4x Innovations makes a tube door I have been thinking about buying. Just not sure how hard to take off door and put the tube door on would be

A lot of former Jeep owners in here. My sister had one a couple of years ago. Had to get rid of it. Too much would go wrong with it, and said the MPG was total ass. She loved it though.

Mine started having issue's also. I wanted a truck bed, and being a former Tacoma owner, I knew I wanted to be back in a Tacoma

I’m a young buck compared to others in here, but learned to drive on a ‘98 4Runner. Even though the paint was faded and the interior was worn, it was a damn good vehicle with almost 240k miles. Sadly, it got rear ended and totaled out.

I then drove a 2010 Ford Taurus for a bit, but the blind spots were difficult to adjust to.

The first “truck” I ever owned is my ‘07 Tacoma that got me invested in this forum.

Just a couple weeks ago, I purchased a 2019 TRD Offroad with 4x4. Gotta love these Yotas.

The guys in here would looking at your '19 taco pic and saying "Nice truck!"
My mom would looking at that and going: "Oh there is a Michael's right next to TJ maxx? Where is that?"
