oddly I do not consider 1000 a lot for a quality stereo. I get a kick out of te part their legendary navigation software. Odd, if they were so legendary why have they no created an app, or marketed it to others. Besides GAIA is going android auto/car play here later this year from the last update I received from them, so no more need to mount the damn tablet anywhere on the dash with the new radio. Install this week and I hope the gaia app works on the joying!!

$1k isn't much. You are spot on. I guess I'm more commenting on screen size and options. I didn't even bother reading about their navigation. Unless it's based on something like Gaia or Google Maps I could care less. And thanks for letting me know about Gaia! I've been waiting for them to go AA!

Yeah I am pumped about the app, really hoping it just works on the head unit and I can down load my base layers/waypoints there. Would make things a lot easier and less cluster F on the dash.

to the guys who installed this HU, did you lose any functionality on the display screen between the tach and speedo? especially curious about the turn by turn navi screen.

Yes, you loose 2 screens in the cluster. You loose the nav part and you loose the song list part. Eventually Joying may come out with a canbus decoder that works 100% with our trucks, then we may get that part back.

Only oem part I miss is the speed part where it gives the local speed of the road. Apple play only does this when you put a address in that I can tell

You'll lose the navigation prompts with an aftermarket headunit as well. At least mine did. You MIGHT be able to see them if you purchase a headunit with built in navigation, but as far as Google Maps, etc they're not there. The music info is there though.

yeah, from what i've read, that seems to be the thing that is missing. guess i could live without it if i could get google maps. i was going to wait until the new 2020s come out and see if they have wireless android auto, but it does not seem that way.

One more question about the Joying unit. Does it still pause or mute the music if you hold the "MODE/ HOLD" button on the left of the steering wheel?

Those look like standard double din headunits, so they wont fill the factory spot like the joying one does.

Yeah. With your typical installation kit they will. Forgot to mention that. Harness adapter would be needed as well.

the dd2001 is just a rebadged belsee unit that normally sells for $250.... Im trying to find the fj1002, but im sure it is also a rebadged china brand unit that normally sells for like $250-$300
    https://www.belsee.com/belsee-after...t-gps-navigation-system-autoradio-stereo.html

EDIT, here is the fj1002, its also a belsee unit for $350
    https://www.belsee.com/belsee-touch...ortuner-prado-vios-rav4-prado-hilux-vios.html

    EDIT again
Here is the version that would fit the tacoma
    https://www.belsee.com/belsee-best-...ortuner-corolla-auris-vios-innova-estima.html.

Has some good features, video out being the best one. Though the rockchip px5 does seem to have some over heating issue when in a car environment.

You guys use the navi on the taco? Too many roads where I go that are not on the damn unit. that were built prior to the navi software year they use. Always used GOogle maps/waze for directions, its very rarely wrong and is almost always uptodate.

I won't miss any of the OEM screens on the display either, I never used them, just leave it on tyre pressure monitors.

I used to like the compass/speed limit screen, but now I just leave it on the mpg screen and softly cry in traffic...

and no, I never used the OEM nav, it was a pain in the ass to type anything in with the "autofill" that just blocks certain letters from being used.

So I was looking at the two units. While the fronts are almost identical, the rear is completely different. Same factory? Who knows?
