So today, I installed a new set of 5100 Bilstein's in my Toytec Ultimate coilovers. After the install, I took it for a test ride. I now have a really bad rattle on the right side when hitting bumps in the road. It almost sounds like the shock is loose. I rechecked all fasteners top and bottom. Sway bar end links are tight, lower ball joint cap is tight, upper tower nuts are tight. No signs of anything rubbing or hitting.
Anybody ever experience this? I've double and triple checked everything and I've come up empty on a possible cause. It doesn't feel like a weak or bad shock, but I'm not ruling that out.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Put it in 4x4 and if it goes away, no doubt your needle bearing is bad. Very common on lifted and can also happen on non- lifted trucks.

I'll try that, but I had no noise at all before the install. And just to be clear, the Toytecs have been in the truck for 9 years now. I haven't changed the ride height since the original installation.

He said right side. There's no needle bearing on the right side of the diff to do a ecgs bushing.

Post some pics. Could have missed a bushing/washer during the install.

Have you replaced your wheel bearings lately? The dis assembly and re assembly could have just been the last leg for it.

I had this happen to me when I put new shocks on my truck after i bought it. Got it all back together and a few days later hear low grinding then knocking in the same day. That night i wiggled the wheel top to bottom. sure enough Bye Bye wheel bearing.

I've rechecked it three times for anything like that.
I've never had to replace the wheel bearings (yet). I don't have a grinding noise. Just a loud rattle when I go over bumps in the road. Smooth and quiet on smooth pavement. I'll jack it up and check for wheel play top to bottom and side to side today though. Thanks.

Never hurts to have another set of eyes look it over. Obviously something isn't right. I'm betting it's either a missed washer, or bushing. Pics will either prove it, or rule it out.

I worked on it with a buddy who has a lift in his garage. We thought the same and even pulled it all apart to insure all the hardware was in place. The bushings come pre installed from Bilstein. There are no other bushings involved. Three nuts at the top of the tower, one through bolt at the bottom of the shock, sway bar drag link, and ball joint cap on the lower control arm. That's it. All washers in place. I can take pics, but that's a waste of time in this case. Thank you for the response though.

We went around banging things like skid plate, inner fender wells, etc.
Looks like I'm gonna have to remove the coilover and maybe even remove the shock. Maybe I should swap the coilovers left to right and see if the noise follows the suspected culprit.

Left to right swap seems like a good idea.

Is the coil hitting the sway bar?

Whelp, swap completed yesterday and the noise followed. So now the metal on metal rattle is on the left side. But, now they're both making the noise. They're both coming out. I think I'm gonna order new coilovers and just replace both.
    Definitely not.

Call toytec, may just be a washer stack up or wrong spring issue

I will call them, but as I stated, these have been in my truck for close to 9 years, so I don't see how it could be a wrong spring issue.

Jack it up from the frame so the suspension is in full droop and see if any components are loose. And double-check if any fasteners are leaving marks from moving around (witness marks).

Could you have finished off or torn the rubber bushings in the lower/upper control arms?

    Done. Don't see anything.
Checked the uppers and they're fine. Lowers are new as I just had my frame replaced about a month ago.

I went ahead and ordered a new set of coilovers. I'm done screwing around with these.
