Yup 20 year old work trucks with only the fronts lifted. Usually with huge chrome/alum wheels and knobby mudders with super tiny sidewalls.

You know what they say about polishing a turd and all.

Yep. Mike was partially correct about the wheel stud issue.

I was feeling incredibly lazy on Saturday and took my truck to Pep Boys for an oil change. They said they rotated the tires for me while they were at it. I was headed down I10 at about 55 when the vibes started. There happened to be a discount tire just off the Chandler Rd exit. Drove over there and they found every lug on the driver wheel loose and one stud broken off.

I learned a lesson, if you have to have someone else work on your truck for whatever reason, go back over everything they touched when you get it back. I can’t imagine what a wild ride that would have been if the wheel came off when I was cruising at 80mph.

I can give more respect to the guys that lift early 90's crown vics or Buicks to fit 20s on them

Yeah, I probably used a new roller every panel :D... I think I got like 10 total! Great thing is I only used one gallon of the tintable kind (bought 2) so now I can do my topper as well when I get around to it

What’s the dry lube people use on uniballs?

Also, to comply with the thread title I got my Prime Day $12 fog lights for the bumper today. Pulled them out of the box and the paint’s already coming off the edges lol. Cheap Chinese shit.

What is the tune? I've been heavily debating when rebuilding to do the 'slow speed stack' and make the slow speed stiffness soft.

I don't remember if I kept the shim stack notes. I had SDHQ in Gilbert, AZ tune em when they needed a rebuild. They looked at the truck and asked how I liked to drive, what terrain, and asked for scale weight.

I had two professional mechanics tell me that my growling noise was a front wheel bearing. Wouldn't even listen to me when I said to jack it up and run it in gear. (you could hear it easily then) Needless to say, they didn't perform all of the unnecessary work that they proposed.

Could be front too. Using a cheap stethoscope can help find the bad bearing

Wow, glad you got it figured out. I'd take it back to the PepBoys with the receipt from Discount and demand they pay for their shoddy work. Could have been much worse if that wheel came off at speed.

Oh, it was definitely the rear. Cleared it right up. Been a couple of years ago now.

I just pulled my abs crap out and bled the new lines. I still have an ounce of fluid left over from a small bottle. Maybe I still have air in them but I think the small bottle is plenty.

I once carried an opened bottle of brake fluid. It all leaked out and I didn't realized until I went to use it in the backcountry. Fortunately it was for my clutch so it wasn't mandatory for operation of the truck. Moral of the story, don't carry an unsealed bottle of fluid and expect it's contents to be there when you need them.
