Not a good idea to do this around windrock or the mountains around it. On one of the WMA’s right next to Windrock I have seen vehicles burned to the ground. I have heard stories about stuck atv’s/side by sides getting left for whatever reason, Someone comes back next day and they where burned to the ground.

Welcome to Colorado. A Tacoma would have looked the same way. Actually, they probably would have taken the whole truck due to the resale on Toyota's.

Hell, there are shops in Colorado Springs that would get calls about broken down rigs and they would go out early in the morning to strip the vehicle of valuable parts (cough Tanner4x4 cough).

Don't drive Jeeps. Funny, I have seen like 5 Jeep Grand Cherokee's broke down these past two days. You could never get me to rely on a Jeep for daily use. I'll build one after I take 80% of the Jeep shit off and install GM parts.

These were newer, stock JGC, or socker mom SUV's.

I was talking about LS GM parts...

Rock what you got. My 4.0L and AW4 are coming out this winter.

Nice. A TN boy. I’m sure you’re familiar with Aetna then. Not a good place to leave a vehicle overnight unattended.

I have heard of it but never been. It’s pretty sad but I think I have heard this about every off road area in the state.

Yeah.. broken down keeps on trails are not that uncommon. We should start a “post up
    Pics of rescuing jeeps” thread.

Thieves are hard to figure out. Sometimes they take stuff, other times they don't. A few years ago my wife and I parked at a trailhead for a short day hike on part of the Appalachian Trail in North GA. There was a BMW in the parking lot that had been there for a while. About 6 months later I was driving by the same spot and the car was still there. This is a pretty remote spot at least 15-20 miles from pavement.

On my way home I stopped by a Forest Service office to report it. The lady I spoke with pointed out that people are often gone for months when long distance hiking the trail. I pointed out that the car had AZ tags that had been expired for 2 years. The tires were flat, and you couldn't see in the windows for the moss growing on it. But nothing was missing, all doors were locked and the windows were intact.

doubtful it has much roll potential left in it but it has a lot of dumpster potential - not bear proof though.

It's shitty but it's true. I've driven by a few rigs left behind on trails before, damaged in some form or another, usually with notes on the dash saying "GETTING PARTS, PLEASE DON'T TOUCH" or something along those lines. One was an FJ with a broken tie rod and another was an older Landcruiser with a broken axle shaft (both Toyotas sadly, lol). Sucks that people can't be trusted.

Knock on wood I haven't had to do that yet, hopefully never will.

I remember that haha. I went back there earlier this year to climb that same gatekeeper and smashed my fender/mirror/turn signal. It's super rutted out from the storms this year, haven't gone back and probably won't now lol. That sucked.
