Lake Sonoma, Healdsburg, CA. Not sure what she weighed, released. Guess 10 lbs. (more likely about 9 lbs but released so call it 10.)

Got out yesterday evening for some small water smallmouth. The bite got good about an hour before sunset on my favorite lure to fish, a top water popper.

Thanks! They are by far my favorite fish to catch. Around here when they are over 16 inches is when they are really fun to fight. For five years now I have been trying to find a 20 incher in the smaller local rivers. I've caught seven over 19" but none that hit the 20" mark!

Do you fish lakes or streams for them?

Mostly river and some lake fishing. Seems like I do better catching the bigger ones in the fall for some reason.

I love that mist on the water at sunrise. I hate trying to get the bugs off the front of my truck later.

Going smallmouth fishing next Friday night on Ky Lake. We did this a couple of years ago and did pretty well. Nothing over 3 pounds or so but we caught a lot of fish. With some luck, I'll have pics next weekend.:fingerscrossed:

well it was a hell of a trip, about 30 miles from the launch, a trailer tire literally exploded, then the spare sucked and dismounted itself... had to leave the trailer on 79 and take the blown tire up to the next exit to get a new tire mounted. Then after finally getting to the launch we caught 4 walleye ( 2 keepers) and then were meet with a rapid storm moving in on Lake Erie. Hail, rain and 4 foot waves cut the day short...but we got 2 eaters.
