tire balancing problems-road force balancing

has anyone had any problems with balancing their tires on the off road alloys for the 05+ tacoma trd offroad?? im on my 2nd new set of tires.....first set was the goodyear wrangler silent armors, which the dealership was having big trouble balancing 2 of the tires out with roadforce balancing, so i swapped out for the bridgestone dueler a/t revo's. got them balanced last week at the dealer(roadforce again with this set....first time, tires balanced ok, ride was smooth), took truck up the interstate, up to 70, and from 60 to 70, there was a vibration worse than when i took it in. took truck back today so they could rodo the balance, as i figured someone got lazy and didnt balance them right. the tech told me that 2 of the tires had real high roadforce, so he moved them to the back, with the better balancing tires on the front. now it rides pretty smooth, but im left thinking next time i rotate them, its gonna shake like hell again. he also said the rims were good, not out of round. somehow i just dont believe that out of 2 consecutive sets of tires......i have had 2 bad tires from both sets. anyone have any clues as to what the hell is going on?? its really starting to piss me off......first alignment problems, now this!!!

 

After checking your alignment, go to discount tire. They are very knowledgeable & will help you troubleshoot.

Balancing is just one factor/solution. I have heard of / seen bad tires & rims (new) that can cause problems.

yeah....i went to discount tire a while back and just had a regular computer balance done on the tires, just to see,a nd i talked with a couple of the guys there. as far as what im dealing with, they didnt really have alot to say either. at the dealership, they said the rims were good to go as far as being not being out of round and all. im almost at the point of being ready to break my lease.......was gonna buy the truck at the end of the lease. after i break my lease, im thinking of buying a good used first gen. tacoma. i like the 03/04 pretty damned good. just getting real tired of my numerous alignment and tire balancing problems.

 

I think when it is time again to rotate the tires you will be bringing the problem back up front again they are just covering up the issue. Have you looked at how much weight they put on the rear tires opposed to the how much weight they put on the front tires to see how big of a difference there is if there is a lot of weight in one area there is a problem. I would have them spin up the rims without the tires to make sure there is not a balance problem with the rims them self. They might not have indexed the tire to the rim if there is a lot of weight in one spot they may have to de-bead the tire on the rim and rotate the tire to a new spot to even out the weights needed. If they can't get them balanced maybe there is an issue with tires them self just a thought.

 

If you're having problems balancing... try this:

After the tech is done spinning the wheel/tire - request he rotate the wheel/tire 180 degrees on the machine and spin it up again. This should verify the first balance effort and possibly fine tune it further.

 

we actually did this today.......and the road force numbers were still high. its really almost getting to be a moot point....especially since i take care of my truck, and its still got no solutions so far that have worked.

 

Noticed after reading this that my tires are weighted pretty heavy directly across from the TPM air valves. They ride great but does have me curious if this might be related to your problem?

 

Just trying to help, I had similiar probs, mult balance jobs later and it seems to be fixed. I really think these high speed shakes are an overly sensitive front end. The tires have got to be 100% perfecly balanced or it will shake. A mild shake if off just a bit but a shake never the less. I would also guess that the dealer's Roadforce equip is slightly more advanced than the regular computerized tire balancer?

 

Did anyone ever find out if you could run EQUAL with the TPMS?
