I just send her out on the snow...too lazy to do any activities like that. Maybe if I ever get time to take her out, I would just let her roam and have fun in the powder, maybe find an object that she would enjoy chasing/fetching and let her be herself. End goal is to make her turn into this dog at the end of the day. When she's asleep and the tongue is juuuuuuuuust sticking out, she has had a good day.

    EXTREEME CLOSE-UP!

Getting old sucks. I wish that dogs would live forever and evil people would die young.

There is a solution for that. Look into skijoring. Get some cross country skis, teach your dog to pull (get a nice harness), and let them pull you around a snow covered golf course/road/groomed track. In Colorado, we have a bunch of groomed cross country ski trails (I'm sure there is something close to you in the springs). Many folks that have Alaskan, herding, or big high-energy breeds skijor with their dogs for exercise. Its on snow, so easy on their joints. I would argue that the more lazy and heavy you are, the better exercise for your dog - win win. I used to work with sled dogs in AK, and skijoring is an absolute riot. All you need is one dog and a beer (maybe a knee brace if you are too old). Something fun to think about this winter. Oh, and it does not hinder leash training either. The harness is a key trigger that invokes the pulling behavior, and is rarely confused with being on a leash. In the summer you can switch to roller blades.

Check it out, CNN did a piece on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He8QDKjMIBU

For me, between skiing and running I satisfy my pooch. He gets about 10 miles in a day between my wife and I, and then I ski him hard in the winter.

    Done antagonizing.

I've been thinking about doing something similar with mine.

She's small, but she can pull hard.

She is also bored. Which what you posted can help with.

Pic of nieces dog . One of there other dogs accidentally fractured her spine .Made wheelchair to help with her therapy and after 4 month shes able to walk and run . One of her rear legs is weak but other than that shes all good . Kind of funny watching her run and when shes making a corner her back sort of fish tails lol.

Good for her, glad she’s doing better.

My Lucy has the same kind of issue, but she hurt her back jumping up and down off of stuff and going up and down stairs. I built her a ramp to get up the stairs and we don’t let her jump anymore. A year later and she can take 3 mile walks (when it’s cooler) and run and play, though her right hind leg is still weaker than the left.

I say do it. You can help her as much as you like by skate skiing while she pulls. Run/walk-joring is the easiest way to start because all you need is the harness setup. Because your legs are "free" from any equipment, its easier to initiate the training positive/negative feedback. Once you have the commands down, all you have to do is decide on your joring sport of interest (walking, running, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, scootering, skiing, scatting, etc). The dogs get super hot, so because in the summer time.

Since Smokey isn't in the pic, I take it he went to grab a drink right after you?
