You can be just as efficient with the sticks if you eat with them long enough. I've got the wife and 3 kids eating with sticks on some nights, depending on what we're having.

You'll be fine, you have a DCSB. The rear cab mount on the access cabs is about 3/4" further forward than the DCSB.

Hey @whitedlite I’m installing my new garage door opener today. Question for you...

My garage door does not have safety springs or a torsion spring. That actually was pointed out in the original home inspection but the opener never worked so I didn’t care and I’ve just opened it by hand since I’ve lived here. Will not having those springs affect the operation of the new opener?

how easy can you lift the door.

The springs will prolong the life of the gears in the opener, I've saw doors light enough people don't worry with it. I'd personally replace them if able or the door can't be picked up without you straining or say an elderly person couldn't open it.

I can open it pretty simply. I don’t mind adding them down the road just wondering if I can run the new opener today and say if I don’t get those for like a month is the opener going to be ok?

The springs will take a little stress off of your opener, by helping to lift the door, instead of the opener lifting the whole weight of the door. If you have the coil spring around the bar, above the door inside, I wouldn't mess with those. The springs running parallell to the door tracks are easy to adjust.

I think it would prolong the life of your opener if you had some assistance from springs. Go with the coil spring around the shaft. It's safer if they so happen to break, they remain on the shaft. Springs that run with your tracks could be dangerous when they break and they have enough potential energy they could cut you wide open when they break.

So that’s ALL I need? No springs on the tracks?

These are the old school way of installing the door springs.
