If it was never registered as non-op then the state thinks you're just driving it around without registering, so you owe back fees....probably a lot of them if it's been years

 

If you let the registration expire then yes. You can always non op it but still have to pay for that i think.

This is why Tyler never got ca plates for this 5lug. It owed like 3k in back fees because the registration was so out of date

 

Funny thing is, it's only $5 annually to register as non-op. People are just lazy lol

But what if it's sitting with a bad motor? You actually have to turn off your registration basically??? Sounds really weird. I guess yeah that sounds like Cali now that I think about it. It just clicked in my head, I gotcha

 

They force you to pay to have a vehicle in the state even if it's not running. Jacked up place man. That sucks.

Why do they need to know you have a non running vehicle or whatever? That's the crap I hate. I'm not using it on your streets, why do I have to register it? Nahmean?

 

If it's sitting with a bad motor and you don't plan on fixing it anytime soon, then when you get your annual registration in the mail you have to send it back in to the DMV with the "non op" box checked and whatever other info the require for that. Pretty easy to do, I think most people think they'll fix it before that happens and then never get around to it...next thing they know it's been sitting for years and now they owe a ton on back fees

The Ranger never stopped being sold in international markets, they were everywhere in the Philippines. It’s about the size of a modern F150.

 

Are the Rangers here different? The new ones here are definitely smaller than an F150

 

Makes sense but for all the DMV knows you might be driving it around and avoiding paying your registration, they don't know that it isn't running...just have to check the non-op box on your registration and then once you get it fixed, get it re-registered

 

You do if you ever want to drive it on a public road.
