Looking at new offerings for 2020, thinking about a new truck for when I repatriate, and lo and behold, what did I see on the 2020 Taco being reviewed? 10-way adjustable seats???? Are we being screwed with, or did Toyota finally decide to listen to us after all?

Oh, I was also looking at the Gladheateher and the Ranger. Prefer the Tacoma for reliability.

Yeah they sent you over the edge and made it worth your 40k with the seat you'll adjust one time and never readjust again

I was thinking this. Power seats are cool but they are set and forget for me. I guess its just expected to see it in new vehicles whether needed or not.

Ive posted this before and I may be a unicorn but I’m one of those guys that actually uses the seat adjustments all the time. Wish the ‘19’s had it but oh well. My truck is awesome in every other way anyway. No problems at all. Definitely not something worth trading for.

But if it makes the drive more comfortable the entire time you own the truck, it may be worth 40k for some people. I imagine a small number of potential buyers take Tacoma off their list because of seat discomfort during the test drive... by making them more adjustable, Toyota may attract more buyers. Smart business decision really.

That being said, I have zero problems with the current seats. I think they are plenty comfortable.

Even if you rarely adjust it, the power seat has much smaller increments of change and it's much easier to get the exact position you like. They also can have more modes of adjustment, like more tilt options or leg support.

For some of us, the range of adjustment of the seat up to this point isn't quite enough. I'd love to be able to tilt it a touch forward, and drop it about an inch or so.

Sounds smart to me (although I imagine it will add some weight.)

I couldn't understand why Toyota wouldn't offer at least a manual seat height adjustment and assumed it was due to safety test scoring.

I've got risers on an '18 and the ergos are vastly improved (for my 5'10" fit and comfort).

Adjusting by hand wouldn’t be a problem. It’s the lack of range in the seat.

It is very unlikely that the new seat will be able to go any lower than the current ones. It will be interesting to see what comes of this specifically.

If you want the rear up a bit:

I like the ability to fine tune the adjustment.

I don't see HOW the seat can go any lower. The support brackets barely bring the seat up at all. And if anything, is just enough to clear the electronics underneath it.

Exactly. Unless they do something interesting, I think the lowest setting will be what we have now.

Lol the seat will probably be higher to make room for all the motors needed to adjust!
