Where is the fuel filter on the 2.7 4 banger?

    On my old tacoma it was under the intake manifold and a royal bitch to get at. I hope the newr models wised up and put it somewhere easily accessable.

    What year? Your info says you have a 97, in which case its under the Intake manifold.

    Im pretty sure there is another one thats inline. The one in the tank can be changed, you just have to drop the tank or take the bed off. I find it more easy to remove the bed. Funny thing, many cars with in tank fuel pumps and filters have an access door in the truck, i.e. Ford mustangs (the ONLY thing they did right), and Hondas. Why trucks dont have an access hole in the bed for fuel tank replacement has always kinda bothered me.

    Im pretty sure there is another one that is near the intak manifold on top of the driver side cylynder head. It looks like a fuel filter to me, but I havent taken it off to see for sure. I will take a pic and post it. FWIW, I havent seen many, maybe 4, in tank fuel pumps/filters fail if good gasoline is used. The ones I have seen fail where used under extreme conditions, i.e. Auto cross, and other raceing, where the tanks are only filled with a few gallons of fuel to keep weight of the vehicle down.

    This is where constantly running below 1/4 of a tank is a bad thing. The fuel keeps the pump cool by it being submerged in the tank. So all those owners out there posting on the "How Many Miles Can I Get Once the Light Comes On?" thread, trying to squeeze that nickel...
