Let me start off by saying I've been browsing the OVTune thread/s for a while now. I'm posting to see if someone can help make sure I understand what it is I get when\if I do get the tune. One of the reasons I bought the Tacoma was my 370z needed Premium and I was tired of paying $3/gallon all the time. I like being able to just pick the cheapest fuel, so if I do go with OVTune it'll be the 87 octane tune

So what I'm understanding the only power gains on 87 will be up top? But it'll become a better driver in the form of better throttle mapping, and torque curve? Better fuel economy, or is that a choice between tunes, one for better economy and one for better power?

Here's a picture of why I bought the truck.

Maybe it’s just me but the pic doesn’t show why you bought the truck. To pull tiny homes? Transport your motorcycle? All of the above? None of the above?

Vacation in Colorado, my friend. Can't load the bikes up in the back of a 370z and take off to a cabin in the mountains with a sports car.

Interesting question. The accountant in me would only want the 87 version also.

With 87 FOB, you will get a nice hit of torque right from idle. That tune is the bomb until 2.0 drops.

This is the dyno sheet from the OVT website. I believe it is 87 Base:
    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0885/5830/products/87_DYNO_RUN_1024x1024@2x.jpg?v=1557783344

Image more torque (separation between the curves) below about 3,500rpm.

That tailgate looks like it is dipping under the weight of the bike.

The power gains are minimal. What makes a huge difference is the delivery of the power. There is a lot less surging (this is putting it mildly). Also, the truck holds gears much closer to the way that every other vehicle ever made does. It isn't perfect, but it is so fantastically better. You don't have to constantly adjust your throttle position while accelerating to steadily accelerate. Also, nearly all the 'learning' is gone, so even the few minor issues that still exist are at least somewhat predictable.

    It get's better every release.
