Anyone have a factory diagram of the oil passages on the 4.0l? I may have to pull heads and clean passages and returns out...one of those quick oil change places screwed my son while I was overseas.

Sorry for the delay; was having codes pop for the #1 VVT solenoid, after I had replaced both and all the chains. Turns out the #1 unit I installed was poorly made, and wasn't porting oil properly. New one from Toyota fixed it.

The reason for wanting the oil passage diagram was an unscrupulous "mechanic" was either putting recycled oil in, or only changing the filter when my son took it in for oil changes (I work overseas). Ended up sludging the motor BAD...enough that it broke the targets off the #1 cam phaser, and I was pulling ROCKS of carbonized sludge out of the timing cover and valvetrain. A lot of $$ in parts, a lot of sweat, and a bunch of mineral spirits and labor by me, and it's now running like a champ.

Attaching a pdf that probably has what you are asking for around page 18.

    Too few to list.
Use the cheap walmart synthetic oil and substitute one quart for ATF fluid. Should clean it right out.

Make sure you clean/replace those VVT screens too. Very fine mesh.

Atf works good or diesel in the crank case will help clean it out really well

Just curious, how long were you gone? Oil doesn’t just sludge up overnight.
