Academy is where its at. Dicks/ Field and stream went political and stopped selling semi auto rifles and wont sell ammo to anyone under 21. I was happy to see their stock numbers tank right after they made that decision. Pissing off your own base isnt a wise maneuver.

Oh really? Superwinch sold out? I doubt Westin could have time to change anything with the manufacturing already. Should still be a good winch if manufacturing was left alone so far

ComeUp that was another one I read tested well against the typical makers

What about Engo? I see them from time to time but haven't heard much about them being good/bad

I think I remember reading a few years back that they also tested well against the made in USA stuff. Chinese manufacturing has come a long ways. They make good stuff too. I think it was Engo, ComeUp, and a Canadian brand too I remember was really solid bang for the buck. But it too was manufactured in China. Titan was the name brand maybe? Don't memba

Not at the prices I remember seeing. IIRC, it was hard to get a winch for under a grand.

Even right now, I'm looking at a 8.5k superwinch, steel cable for $700 from Summit Racing. 4WheelParts is still selling a 10k synth line for $1600.

I got my Warn VR10 for like $600, then a few weeks after I got it, word came down Superwinch was out of business.

True, but at least right now you're not going to get any warranty support.

Yes, but not really by that much. The main advantage to the syth is how it stores energy compared to the steel. Synth doesn't store energy so if it breaks, it basically just falls to the ground vs. wiping around like steel cable

The thousand dollar question, does it have the factory front and rear lockers?
