Out of the 4 Toyota pick up's Ive owned, 2 80's long beds and 2 Tacoma's never had an issue with the seats. Pull the bar and adjust. I was the only one to ever drive them, so not much adjustment necessary.

I haven't thought about my seat's position since the day I left the dealer's lot, and slid it back..

“Its just something else to go wrong” is always brought up when people defend their lack of power seats.

Yup they realized that Chad Thundercock is not quite 5 foot eleven like they designed the truck for, but more like 5 foot seven with poor core muscle strength because he needs to fidget with the seat way too much to achieve seating Nirvana. It doesn't really matter because Chad is always bitching about not having a grab handle to assist him in scaling such a huge truck. He won't admit it, but the only reason he installed "sliders" is to make getting in the truck easier for him and his woman. The woman she's a little portly and wears those basic Kohls mom capris. It's her best outfit when paired with a baby doll top and flats. It's Chad's special night and they're eating where only Chads like to eat, It's Buffalo Wild Wings, Chad always gets into trouble here because he likes to ogle the help and wonders how his life got so off track. Chad is the assistant manager at a tire store and wonders how his life went from throwing footballs over mountains to jockeying tires around because Josh called out sick again, but when a fellow Tacoma owner comes in asking hey will 35s fit he already knows what's required and get the same satisfaction like back in the day when he could throw a football over those mountains.

I agree with the general statement that Toyotas update conservatively and bring products to market that will last. I'm not sure seat motors and memory buttons fall into that category though. They've been reliable (and in Toyotas) for a very long time. The smaller motor thrown into the Taco and lack of accouterments like memory seats in the Taco is a product of Toyota wanting to make $$$ on a model they know will sell no matter what (CAFE comes into play a bit w the smaller motor as well).

I have no issue with the 3.5, other than it does not pair well with the current automatic (and has less torque than the new seat motor ;) ). A ton more power than my little 22r in my 84. I use a truck for hauling, not towing. The current manual Taco is pretty sweet.

You gotta remember that many Americans are lazy and want super sized everything. As an example, visitors to this country are amazed at the huge selection in our grocery stores. There’s an entire row of just cereal!

The vast majority of vehicles sold in Europe are manuals. It’s the just the opposite here. I don’t think BMW even offers a manual anymore in the newly released 3 series. The Big 3 are selling every full size truck they can spit out of the factories right now and the overwhelming majority of them will be used as a one person commuter vehicle.

Exactly. My Tundra I bought five months and 16K miles ago has a umpteen way seat. I adjusted it for the test drive and haven't touched it since.

Oh hell yeah me too. On a long road trip I'm always playing with the seat cushion adjustments in particular. Lack of an adjustable seat cushion is one of the few things I don't like about my 2018.

Personally I would not buy a new vehicle with how much they cost and not get even basic forward/backward power seat, yeah second gen ive got is manuel seat and thats fine but would love power seats, along with auto up down on at least both front windows

Drive a Jeep for a few days. You will change your mind about how comfortable the Tacoma seats are.

It's not about power adjustable seats FFS...we are not "Universally sized"...a bit more adjustability is desirable (to me, anyway) to those who are A) Fairly short, or B) Fairly tall...I do love my 2nd Gen...but at 6'5" with long legs and a long torso, there needed to be a bit more range. I'll be glad if Toyota has finally done this...FFS, even the Wrangler I drive here in the Sandbox at least has more MANUAL adjustment to it...and that's a foam covered brick seat.

Congrats you're old and stuck in your ways, that doesn't mean there isn't a better option.

It’s a better option for some people but not necessary to others, that was my point...no need for the ‘old and stuck in your ways’ garbage, grow up.
