Eventually I’ll build out my custom bumper/rack situation and sell my 1up. It may take a while though... I need to figure out how to make a 32” fit under the truck first to reclaim my short bed. And plate or box the frame. And upgrade the suspension. And get a supercharger...and...

Just cut up the tire support members, I have a 33 stuffed up under there. They really only provide front-to-back support and with the bigger tire, my hitch provides the support I lost by cutting up those members, and the tire is still centered.

my Hidden hitch (tm) sits too far back (closer to the axle) and doesn’t leave enough room for the spare to fit... I need to replace or remove the hitch to get it to fit, but then I can’t use my bike rack, which is more important.

Hm what are your thoughts on roof mounted racks? I like hitch better but that could possibly solve it, or mount the tire to a rooftop basket?

    Swing out bumper?

Ya can do it to the bed rail channels, but they will break.

Or if there is room, build a hoop from the front bed bolts and stand the tire up?

my thoughts for a tire: dumb. I don’t want more weight up high.
For bikes, the stresses of driving off road and the bikes swinging back and forth, constantly stressing a 1” (at best) camp on a small tube is ripe for failure. Also, bikes are way more in the way on the roof that on a hitch rack. I wouldn’t have been able to go half the laces I went this past month with crap on the roof.

I “fabricated” the “mount” that is a ratchet strap holding the tire vertical against the cab in the bed for my trip. The odd shape takes up too much room in my already too small short bed.

Their ridiculously expensive for what you get, Metal wise. You can get a high clearance rear swing out for the same price.

hear ya. If i had to choose between that and a full bumper, I'd still go with Rigd - lightweight (half the weight of a full on bumper), removable if I end up not needing or liking and accommodates a bike rack. Fits my needs. Every swing out I see is easily over $1500. Base bumper starts at 1k, then you add a swing out, maybe even a dual, that's another $500-700, then powder coat and you have to cut the truck. Different strokes for different folks.
