Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Cute. You guys live on a geological fault line, well, actually several of them, and you see no need to prepare yourselves for the consequences. Super. Enjoy!

No I’m just asking what major damage to infrastructure or anything else that occurred to make someone say Californians felt unprepared for this. The way it was described, it sounded like people were in actual trouble due to the earthquake. I was less than a hundred miles from the quake when it happened. It was strong... But not that bad, I was actually standing up the whole time.

There aren’t several, there are dozens, maybe even hundreds of faultlines in SoCal. In fact, when the earthquake hit, I knew that I was about 200 yards from one that broke during the Northridge quake. I’m still here.

I think the media combined with peoples general lack of understanding of earthquakes makes them blow them out of proportion. It’s cute that you’re worried about us though, thanks.

California building codes have been built with the earthquakes in mind. Large buildings have counterbalances or teeter foundations to absorb movement, houses are wood and stucco for flexibility, bridges are over engineered for movement, and the old ones all have support columns wrapped in solid steel. Other parts of the world with a 6.9 quake might see thousands of deaths, we had a couple of cracked roadways and some broken bottles

And for anyone that wants to light me up.. I have 3 weeks of food, water, and medical supplies should the need happen. I could potentially get called to work for 14 days so there are enough supplies for my family once I know they are safe, and then an additional week when I get back to figure out what happens next.

Installed these radio knobs I got in the mail today. One of the cheaper/easiest mods I’ve done. Now that it’s summer, it’s been tricky trying to turn the knob without pressing the other buttons on the screen. Great quality and fast shipping! I ordered these on Monday and got them today. Thanks @Tacowiede! Best $29 I’ve spent yet!

I doubt TSS could of prevented that. And i wasn't at fault. I explained the accident a couple post below the post you quoted.

My wife's 2019 Camry XSE has tss, birds EYE, adaptive cruise, blind spot and more.. Personally I'd turn most that crap off If it was my vehicle.

Ya it does look great. Time before this it rained less than an hour after I finished waxing it so the wax never got a chance to cure and only lasted about 4-5 weeks

This time around though it was at least 24 hours before it rained after I finished. 5pm downpours the last 3-4 days here in CFL haven’t done much and it’s still got a nice pretty shine to it

No skin in the game since i live in NC. But people in Cali are as prepped for a quake as we are for hurricanes. You want to talk about unprepared look at Memphis and Boston. Both sit on similar fault lines to the San Andreas. Just less active. Both will see a huge quake one day. Neither of them have building codes for such. Memphis has an earthquake plan but i think it was written in the 70s. I don't think Boston has one. Either of those pop off the death toll will be in the thousands and takea decade to recover from. The fact this quake was just meh shows what preparedness really is. I don't have a lot good to say about commifornia (kidding) but hats off to you guys for having at least that part of your life right.
