I’ve been driving for half that and power seats are for people with soft hands who don’t know how to use a compass and who hyphenate their names when they get married.

This is a Toyota Tacoma, stop fooling yourself and buy a luxury crossover.

For the amount of $$ these trucks cost they should have power seats.

What trim do you have? Because yeah, I can see how if a person spent 40k OTD for the 2016+ version of this they might feel like they deserve more. 4B5F660B-4075-4BB0-8FA4-10CEC0BA2802.jpg

But really, you bought a small Japanese utility truck.

I rather have better carpet vs. power seats. The carpet in my 04 was heads and shoulders better than this thin felt stuff we get now. I also rather have rear disc brakes.

I like the font Toyota PR used there.

Some of these people are too eager to trade up for a power seat and car play. It's not enough change just to have a better head unit and power seat to get me to trade up. Hey at least they'll be able to bitch about the drive train combo while feeling comfy.

That's one way to lower the overall price of a new truck.

Here in Canada I cannot get into a 4dr taco for less than $40k. At that price i should be able to adjust my seat more than 2 ways.

I would love a back-to-rugged basics truck. A decade ago some sales dude convinced my dad that the interior of his new FJ could be cleaned with a garden hose. He believed him. Oddly thats what I actually want, an interior where I can throw open all the doors, dial my nozzle sprayer to full blast, and pfsssh all of the caked mud, sand, and dog hair right out the other side. Basic vinyl upholstery, rubberized flooring, electronics that are simple but can tolerate manhandling from a sopping wet ogre that just rose from the mud pits and decided to go for a cruise. Thats the truck for me.

Oh, tangental note, heres the ad campaign that was playing when I decided that my Mustang just wasnt a great vehicle to do all the things that I wanted to do. (Also, I firmly believe that the 1997-2000 1st gen frontier was both the first time and the last time that Nissan was actually relevant.)

Well then you shoulda got a proper Toyota pickup. If you need more than 2 doors, get a minivan. Those have adjustable seats. Again, this isn’t a luxury vehicle. It’s a utility truck. You keep thinking it’s somehing fancy. No matter what kind of lipstick Toyota puts on this for the kooks (fake hood scoops) it’s a tomato wagon. And 40k in 2019 isn’t shit.

The “for 40k I shoulda got” mentality is what’s ruining this kind of truck.

I have no problem finding a comfortable driving position with the current seat. My wish is that the telescoping steering column would extend out toward the drive more.

I got a gently used Tundra with a remote start, sway bar, exhaust And supercharger for $40k.
Guess what? Its has power seats, heated seats, pleather, power rear window, dampened tailgate, a transmission that works as it should, and disk brakes.
Im sorry but I really struggle with the price of tacomas for what they are.
If you dont think $40k is shit then congratulations, you are rich. For me, its a lot of money.

No that’s a lot of money for me. It’s just that in today’s new vehicle market, it’s pretty regular. I’m a bare bones Toyota pickup enthusiast, so I opted for the 4x4 manual, no locker no fake hood scoop, 24k. About what one should pay for an off road utility vehicle. It’s not so much the money, as much as power seats are out of place in such a vehicle.

How about- for 40k, one could imagine a vehicle would have power seats. At the same time, a Tacoma shouldn’t be 40k, and as such, shouldn’t have power seats.

I don't really care if the seat is power, but I'd really like the height to be adjustable. My wife and I are 10" apart in height. No way the most ergonomic driving height is the same for the two of us. So even if they had the old school lever on the side to change the height I'd be happy. There are times we need to switch vehicles, and when I need her car it's way easier to get it if she knows she'll be comfortable in mine.

I'm shopping now and really torn between getting a deal now on the 2019 or waiting for the 2020 for the seat and apple car play. If I already had one though, there's no way I'd be thinking up trading in for those changes.

Amish people would probably back you up on this too. They don't need power seats. But for the rest of us, it's not so bad...
