TFL Just released a new video on the 2020 Tacoma it looks like the main updates will be lights and a powered seat.

Hopefully you can put that power seat in the current model without too much modifying.

Sounds like a lot of work for little added value. In the coarse of ownership, how often does one move their seat?

Am I late to the party already lol? It’s been a while since I’ve been on tw
I actually do a lot since I can never find a position I like in the truck, I want it for the up and down adjustability.

I hate power seats. If someone else drives the car then it takes 10 secs + to move it back. With manual it's instant. And I don't need adjustments every mile. You have power seats at home or work ?

You're missing part of the point. With power seats, the hope is that the seat can be lowered from its current fixed height. For any driver over about 6'2", they'll know what I mean. I have plenty of headroom (provided there is NO sunroof), but it feels like I'm sitting on top of the truck.

Not gonna happen. The seat is practically sitting on the floorboard as is. Adding motors underneath isn't going to give it any more room.

Edit: BTW, I'm six three and would be all for it. Hate staring at the rear view mirror at eye level...

    Wow. That's incredible.
I am by no means being a "hater"....but it's kind of incredible how much of a pass Toyota gets for making almost no effort to be competitive with regards to options. Feels like they take advantage of their loyalists.

There is no mention of a memory for the power seat in the 2 vids on the 2020 that i have seen. My '06 Volvo XC70 had power seat with memory and was great for when there is more than one driver. Also great for powering back the seat for easy exit and then having a memory for powering back to the exact driving position after re entering the vehicle.

The only real advantage of the power seat then will be height adjustment.

All the hoopla about 60+ year old technology? For cry-sakes you'd think they'd put wings and an afterburner on it. Sorry, I don't get it. It's a power seat. Handy? Sure. Deal breaker? Not to me, it's a truck.

To you and to me it is a truck but with a DC, to families it is a family vehicle and more practical than a mini van or SUV. Hence the demand for luxury car features that families want.

Yea I get it. But having been-there-done-that with a DC truck and a growing family, I'll vote SUV for the win in most cases. :notsure:
(Even though Dad hates to give up his man (truck) card)

As someone with sciatica/lower back pain, vehicles with adjustable seats are 10x better than vehicles without the optional adjustments.

It’s not, it’s just something that’s new and thought it was cool, maybe a post from somebody looking to get into a used 3rd gen.

Damn near every truck being made is basically a family vehicle at this point, you’re basically picking between a truck bed or back seats that can recline.

This is exactly why power seats would be nice.

The point of the thread/post was for more of “hey they finally have power seats about time!”
For everybody with “ITS A TRUCK” comment power seats don’t make it any less of a truck, it’s just something nice they should’ve have it’s not like they have to redesign the whole damn truck with NASA to put a power seat in there.
