Ten50 BBQ in Richardson. Right next door to where I'll be.

I'll have to look at Pecan Lodge... possibly on the way home if I can convince the others .

    Final Meater Block Thoughts:

    PRpKbRPBLmc5rhKkhxUJV-JIbh0wJx0Q7lBXcidM_9eb2272674a4f28804c3775425bbf909e8e1acbe.jpg

    Pros:

Wireless is The main selling point and awesome!
WiFi to the Meater Cloud for long distance watching
Dual Temp Probes - Each is meat and ambient. All are accurate to each other, Ice, Room Temp, and Boiling Water
Looks Great and feels really well built.
App is intuitive and very easy to navigate and use. Utilizing the cloud it keeps data and trends for full cook tracking and viewing later.
    Easy to clean probes
Setup was easy and the App guides you step by step
Battery indicator on Block itself for the block
Probes supposed to last 24 hours on a charge (no issue with 18+ hour initial test)
Block itself has an audible alarm built in
Do not have to use the cloud or wifi, you can use standalone mode and just your phone if you want
°F and °C available via block and app
    Price (subjective)(wait for sales)
Probes are numbered on the ends 1-4 for easy identification

    Cons:

Block uses AA Batteries - not a rechargeable built in battery
Micro USB and not Type C (small gripe)
No Pass Through Charging - USB Port is if you think you your cook will outlast batteries (can not recharge AA's if they are capable)
Updates - Initial Update was a pain. Common complaint on the internet. I had to place it directly next to my router and it worked fine
Probe Connection to the block - I received multiple (50+ alarms throughout the cook) "Probe #X Disconnected Alarm". The base was on the smoker shelf so it was as close as it could get without being in the pit. (Big Con as it's annoying and will wake you up on overnight cooks if volume is up) They always reconnected pretty much instantly by themselves, but still a pain. Supposed to be 10m/30ft range in "most cookers". I was at 1 foot... Email into tech support on this
Response time to email inquiries (subjective as well and I'm on the fence on this being a con)

    Wish List:

Type-C pass through charging and built in rechargeable battery
Expansion slots to add a couple more probes in future without having to buy single Meater's or another block. Not sure if they will all pair together

    Should you you buy it?

Depends. For me, obviously yes. The Pros way outweigh the Cons. I cook a lot as most of y'all do. I love the wireless idea and the app is awesome and easy to use. equivalent of 8 probes (4 meat and 4 ambient). I say if you can justify it though, wait for a sale off of the $270 price. I'm sure there will be many.

If I think of anything else, I'll add it, but those are my initial thoughts and impressions.

I think the alarm stuff for disconnects would make me mad. It’s not being sold as cheap china stuff so get your hardware and software working right. That’s the type of stuff that makes me send products back to be honest.

This is probably the only thing (besides the cost) holding me back from purchasing. Hopefully they'll get some bugs worked out by the end of the year and then I can order one on sale

Stuff like that bothers me. You know they know the problem exists. Fix it before you ship or at least have an update ready right away to fix it.

Agreed. Especially when you're charging $200+ for that. Shit should be working near flawless. I get a few bugs on a brand new product, but I feel like that should have been tested more thoroughly before shipping. I'd rather wait another month for a better working product than to have something shipped just to meet a timeline and have it be bugged to hell

I'll definitely keep y'all posted once I get a response on the connectivity issue. I'm with ya that that should've been fixed. I could understand if I had the block 10-30 feet away, and yes my pit is thick, but not that bad.

    DUDE I HAVE THE REASON.

Your pit not only doesn't have WiFi it's not attempting to block all WiFi/BT signals from within.
