Wow, I mean the 4.7 got pretty comparable gas mileage in the 4Runner. At least, maybe 1 mpg less than my MT does. I'd gladly trade a MPG for the sound and torque. Just fantasizing here though. Better gas mileage would be nice sure, but really most hybrids only add marginally better economy at a price that defeats the purpose.

Or instant torque off the line, which the current engine lacks.

Why did Toyota try the V8 in the 4Runner for those few years, but never the Tacoma? Concern it would eat into the Tundra sales? If I recall, the Chevy/GMC twins had a V8 when it first came out?

The gas mileage was that different and the noise from the 4.7 is totally better sounding!

The 4.7 is a great engine, but our 4Runner got pretty terrible mileage. Probably 15 mpg average, but usually like 13 mph on longer trips to the mountains loaded down with gear. And it had plenty of low end torque but was a bit of a dog at highway speeds. A more modern engine would be needed at this point.

According to this(at about 50 seconds in), that is incorrect and they are in fact sequential turn signals.

7:45 segment he says the trucks are made to be off road.

That is, until you take them in for something that happened off road.

With the matte color it’s nice.

i noticed in the tfl vid ole boy said that there were light changes to the rear. even though he was pointing at them on the pro when he mentioned it, i noticed a couple trd models later in the vid, and plus a couple others that the tails look to be trd pros as well. so my question is this. does the trd sport and trd or now come standard withtrd pro tails or is this another variant to the tail light design.

edit: heres a gander. sorry for the crude screenshot lol.

I was curious about this as well with the LED headlights. I noticed the Off Road behind the Pro had LED lights.

I hope so. I think they look sharp. I've been waiting for the 2020's to drop so I can buy my first Taco.

negative. i know for certain that the pros have the trd pro moniker etched on the bottom part of the headlight whereas the others do not. just for that reason i rather have the non pro headlights. i do not know if the new led assemblies will be offered across all trim levels, but i know for sure they are atleast there for the trd sport and trd or models. i remember when 2nd gen had that mid cycle refresh and they came out with the (then) new led tails, only higher models had em. base models still came with the all red incandescent variant.

Yes its a new taillight as well, its actually chrome housing, there are some better pics up close. It was mentioned in the press release. The Pro has a black housing, here are some pics, look at the back portion up top and you'll see the chrome vs. black.

In general, have the cabin rattles become less of an issue in the newer 3rd Gen Tacomas? Are they as common in the 2019s as they were in the 2016s? I did a few searches, and saw what looked like more complaints about them in the 2016/2017 timeframe, so I’m wondering if maybe Toyota has ironed some of that out in the newer model years. (I’m consider buying a 2020 TRD Off Road, and trying to get an idea of what to expect.)

    Thanks!
