    Same as Ferrari.

It’s fun to see the decision process. It’s a cool vehicle. I thought my Tacoma was too expensive.

    too many to list

FJ40 gets 10mpg (37 inch tires). 100 series gets about 10 as well (v8). 17-19 mpg in the tacoma is fuel efficient compared to my other vehicles hahahaha. The 80 series I had before my tacoma got about 15 mpg. My firstgen 4runner crawler got about 17 mpg though!

Dude, I WOULD NOT order that bumper, ok? My point was that if you want it, you'll have the LED package included for another $1050, and that is where the price starts adding up from base MSRP.

I would just order a base Rubicon manual soft top, no options, have it delivered to the dealership for $45k. Then see if I could get one of the hardtops on Craigslist. Add a front bumper if needed.

Pretty much what I did only I didn't have it built, it was already on the lot waiting for me.
Stripped down "18" JLU with Nav.
No power/heated seats or any of the other bullshit. $43k otd.

I use my DCOR as a daily driver and feel pretty comfortable driving around town and on the freeway. Not as smooth as my wife's Avalon which is like riding on a cloud, but doable. I've ridden in a fair number of Jeeps and to my ass, none have shown me anything I'd like to spend 8+ hours in. They are cool vehicles but the only way I could own one is as a "screw around" vehicle. Unfortunately, it would be down the line in that selection with a Miata at the top of that list and getting closer to my driveway every day.:fingerscrossed:

That's what I loved about my good old 2000 4.0 TJ.

It was in need of a new top when Hurricane Matthew passed by, so I left it outside. Next day it had a lot of water in it. I just pulled the drain plugs and let it drain. I'd removed the carpet, and back seat years before that.

Had neoprene seat covers on it, but the top leaked from the back so they stayed pretty dry. I'd had them damn wet in past a lot thou.

Never worried about door dings. If someone opened a door against it, they would either hit the little running boards or tires. Bitch didn't even come with AC.

If I hadn't bought it for my ex... yellow with an auto trans, I'd probably have kept it when I bought my truck.

I haven't done anything over an hour yet. Agreed with you on the Tacoma. I drove from PA to CO this past winter and found it comfortable. From my early impression, the jeep will be equal to that.

Just posted to share impressions given I've now owned both vehicles. I've used the hell out of this forum (quietly) so thought it might be useful to some... Expected some ball busting from others - nbd.

Re: the manual, I thought about it but as something my wife is going to drive as well, first choice was the auto. Maybe because I was coming from the Taco but I have been really impressed with the 8 speed auto.

Why in the world would you want to be able to remove doors ? What a pita. Plus with more exposure to the sun hopefully you won't regret it one day. Won't even get into safety.
In my opinion a novelty that quickly gets old.

I really wanted a Rubicon in as small a wheel base as possible. I bought the Tacoma because it seems more practical and perhaps more reliable. I’d still love to have a Rubicon but I really don’t have too much chance to do 4 wheeling. If I lived out west it might be different. I’m getting older but still not to old to ride my motorcycle so the taco fits my lifestyle right now. I hope they sell a lot of those Jeep trucks. Last time they made them they didn’t sell well. Times they are a changing.

Funny you mention this... it’s the biggest gripe I have with my Tacoma. Ceiling is WAY too low and I smash my head at least once a week.

Gladiator headroom in 1" more than the Taco. The Tacoma is the lowest in the market.

That does look good. Although that bed is now what, 3.75 feet long...?

I don’t like the stock rear overhang on Gladiator, though: it is too long and is bound to drag its ass on the trail.
