    4runner? Don't be daft.

Double Cab 4x4 taco can be had for 30-33k new. Plus it has a bed. Have fun opening the rear hatch like an ass hole whenever you need to pull all your muddy camping bull shit out.
Also tacos rear leaf spring setup makes long travel much more possible. With a bed cage you can fit 16" socks right up through the wheel wells. On the 4runner not possible unless you like dirt and noise inside your cab.

That's why Toyota still has no problem selling lots of them ? Honda neither, even though the Ridgeline is a failure. By your account Honda should be out of business. Didn't know Acura had a truck either. The list goes on.
    Ford sucks period.

But I do love the current Raptor. It’s a bad ass 450hp high performance truck!

Except they should have stuck with the V8, I don’t even care if the ecoboost has thirteen times as much power, it sounds like crapola!!

CAFE and emissions. The V8 is going the way of the Do Do bird.

Unfortunately that may be the case. I’ve owned one V8 and miss it pretty much every single day.

I drive V6 EB F150s and V8 F250s at my job and you can have the V8s for all I care. Once you get use to the EB turbos, the V8 Ford trucks make you feel like you are driving a Tacoma.

Well the only V8 I’ve owned was a sports car, I just remember the torque being insane. Whether I was going 15 or 90, you put it to the floor and it was gone.

If you get a chance to drive an F150 EB, especially the 2.7L, which spools up the fastest, you will be a believer.

Whenever I get out of the F150 EB I drive for work and get into the Taco, I need to regear my brain.

I still love my Tacoma, and it’s the prefect form-factor for what I need, but it doesn’t hold a candle to what Ford is doing with their boosted motors, in terms of get-up-and-go.

Ford, to their credit, deserves their great success with the F150. It leaves very little to complain about. They have a really great thing going with these Ecoboost motors.

My car that I’m building is a turbo charged 2.0L, I know exactly what you are referring to. Once you go turbo it’s hard to go back to NA.

I only own a DCLB Tacoma (w canopy) because it fits my exact needs :
    - I can park in narrow city parking spots in the big city / grocery store etc. Length isn't an issue for me with this truck / I can park anywhere I want.
    - I can put 2 absolutely filthy dogs in the back and not have a care
    - I can sleep in the back with my kid and two AIRE pads
    - All my fishing / camping gear for 3 days 2 nights floating the deschutes for steelhead fits. I only pull drift boats and rafts so not much weight. Real 4WD for unimproved boat ramps / BC adventures

I owned a '11 F-150 V6 eco boost 4 door short bed and basically couldn't park in the city. The turbo system had the dreaded condensation issue (lots of rain in Portland, OR) and the truck would go into limp mode at least once a month in winter (water sucked into engine etc). I had the F-150 flashed 8 times and every time the Ford dealership would just say it was out of warranty. After trying to accelerate unsuccessfully onto the freeway one time as the truck kicked into limp mode and I almost got into an accident I went out and bought a Tacoma because I felt like this was the only option. Was not buying a ranger, and prior to the F-150 I had a Tahoe that want 80K miles before the engine blew up. Also this truck was pretty cheap.....$32K for a TRD Offroad with full tech package (cloth seats no sun roof) and dealer provides a 100K warranty and free service for 2 years. I always use Shear Comfort Cordura seat covers so didn't want leather.

In Summary - If I didn't have to park or drive around in a big city I would not own this truck. Like it much better since I put TRD 4R wheels and 265 70R17 Falken AT3s on it. Tires are smooth at 70mph, only cost $125 a tire, and I only lost about 1pmg in terms of gas mileage. Way Way less noisy than K02s.

    Camburg bed cage: https://camburg.com/shop/suspension/camburg-toyota-tacoma-pre4wd-05-18-lt-rear-bedcage/

Im sure you can find a shop to fab somthing similar for ~$1000ish labor.

Anyone running bolt in shocks and a bolt in leaf pack is bull shittin. Get real and go spring under 62/64" LT springs with at least 16" 2.5 shocks. Cost differnce is a bit more overall but you can rock 18" travel and smash over anything. Shocks are probably cheaper vs tacoma specific bolt in "perforamce" shocks from who ever makes them these days, icon, bilstein, king... Same shock comparines make big boy bypass shocks for proably a bit cheaper.

Three tenths of a second difference out of 7 seconds is a big deal? Use a stopwatch to time 7 seconds. Then use a stopwatch to time three tenths..
It might feel different but truly not much different.
