I20 and I10 going to El Paso , the speed limit is 80 .... truck easily handle 85 even going up hill .... now I pay attention to DO NOT let cruise control when there are hill, only flat road.

Regarding the RPM even at 85mph does not go over 2500...
I guess the factor of one owner 55,000 mile on it when I got it , it plays a factor on the low RMP ?
Or it just maybe a thing for AT , the OP is standard, but in general the RPM in mine is lower.... to save some gas I tried not to press over 2000 RPM to go up to 50mpg

Im guess I started driving like an old man just to care for the Taco :mudding:

Drive the hell you want ... always leave the left lane to the ones in a hurry , best wishes for them ... you will be LMAO when ahead police giving them a ticket:brianr:

What size wheels do you have? Mileage wont change RPM's, only gear ratios and tire size will. I bet it mostly has something to do with the A/T. I am not sure about the gear ratios those come with.

oh... good point... my wheels are 4Runner 245/75/R16...
I believe the original model TRD came with 265/70/16
so that may change true speed and some impact oN MPG
because thread is off road instead of passanger ....
looking forward to go down to 235/70/16 Michelin Defender
to save gas and smoother ride. ( in a year from now )
No idea about the gear radios on AT vs manual

I agree with you on that! I used to always drive 10-15 over the limit until my company started monitoring my vehicle speed via GPS (don't get me started, I fought it and lost). After about 18 months of adjusting my attitude toward the policy, I've learned to love driving slow!! It's relaxing to just cruise in the right lane and rarely have to pass anyone. Plus, getting an average of 22 mpg is a bonus, and I'm on the clock so I don't care if I get there a bit later.

Here’s one at not so high speed. First truck was stopped at red light. Second hit it in the rear. Oh, and there is a car in between them. F346C574-444B-4D81-BAF4-BFB18F6881E9.jpg
