I listed everything in this post:

You need to pull the transmission. Disassemble and swap in these parts. A good transmission shop should be able to do this no problem. If you bring them the transmission (so they don't have to remove it from the truck), it shouldn't cost a lot. But expect $200-300 cause it is a decent amount of work. The output shaft is the first thing that goes in the transmission, meaning it's the last thing out. So the whole thing needs to be taken apart to swap the shaft. I've seen some ppl swap it themselves, but for the amount I paid, it wasn't worth it to DIY.

Just thought I'd add the link to my 4x4 swap from 2 years ago. It's on another site. I never got around to doing a write up on here:rolleyes: http://www.car-part.com/ was my best resource for larger parts. I got my wheel bearings pre-pressed from this guy http://www.marionbumper2bumper.com/ The guys at rocksolidtoys have a conversion transmission crossmember out now so that eliminates the need for fabricating your own crossmember. Hope this helps. Whenever I did this swap, no one one the internet had done a conversion on a 2.7 that I could find.

Yea I can’t believe it’s been that long either. I’ve put almost 100k miles on the truck since.

So for the automatic 2.7 which trans would you use? I could try to reuse mine since it only has 100k on it but it might just be easier to find another trans.

You can find a lot of transmissions with under 100k miles for a reasonable price and sell yours to recoup some of the cost. I only kept my transmission because it had less than 25k miles and one with that low mileage was well north of $1k

You need a 4 speed auto 4x4 transmission. The model code is A340F. The 5 speed auto is for the v6 and won’t work. The 5speed manual is...well stick shift. No, you need a transmission from a ‘05-‘15. Closer to your model year the better.

@Brian422 better listen to the others with questions about the automatics. I know nothing about them since mine is a 5 speed manual

The electrical connections on the 1st gen A340 are different than the 2nd Gen. If you went this route with your trans you'd basically be paying them to rebuild your trans, but without new parts; so pay for new parts and have a rebuilt transmission. This is exactly what I'm looking at doing for my R155 to A340 swap, buying a cheap A340E and converting to A340F with performance parts (turbocharged 2TR here). Or wait a few months and driving up to VA for a few days and we swap transmissions and some cash and I help you do the 4x4 swap, I've got experience:

Wait, you are doing a 5-speed manual to auto conversion? If so, please PM me. I'm trying to do the opposite. We could literally swap parts.
