Progress is slow. New pup has me busy chasing him for tools or chewing on the broom.

But did make some progress today. Got the front end put back together besides oil and torquing the 3rd member and got the rear axle hung after redrilling the perches. It’s wide but looks like everything will clear. Driveshaft bolted up and now just to cycle and mount the shocks and bumps.

Think this will end up being full bump

    And full droop

Need to put some weight in the bed to get it to articulate properly.

Looking good, are those 12" or 14" shocks?
Be a good time to weld on some frame plating where those shock towers are!

    12in shocks.

I made some templates to plate the hole rear frame but decided I’m just going to do some 1/8 scab plates were the shock tower will be.

Those look too nice to be ballistic anyway, not enough slag, no jagged lines and you actually are in possession of them!

More progress. Both sides tacked. Time to start on the bumps.

This is at full bump both sides up.

How are you liking the 4.88s with 39s? I can't decide on whether to go with 4.88s or 5.29s on 37s. Granted your rig is probably a full time trailer rig but I am going to DD and take mine off roading during the weekends, which would you recommend? 3.4 auto.

4.88s and 37s wasn’t bad and didn’t bother me. Had plenty of power as long as it downshifted and drove fine. With 39s it was a pretty doggish. I just put 5.29s in with the 39s but haven’t driven it. It may be faster but I’m sure it’ll be running at higher rpms. I still drive it a lot on the street and had no issue with the 37s and 4.88s that being said. It’s like 33s and stock gearing lol

I'm on 33's and stock gearing right now. I'll be joining the Solid Axle crew here shortly but i'm doing more of a mild build compared to yours. Just stock rear and D44 front. i'll probably just go 5.29 rear and 5.38 front. I probably want to try bigger, so I guess going 1 up on gears wouldn't be too bad. Thanks for answering. I'm still a little worried about MPG even though I know it'll suck more. ha.

I would definitely go with 5.29s then. I said 37s were the max and now look at me lol. They all start mild and get crazy

5.29s for sure. I have them on my 3.4 5pd with 37s and its sweet. Drive it to the trails and its DD capable.

With an auto I think there’s more forgiveness. 4.88s and the 39s wasn’t even that bad. I won’t know the difference till I drive it with the new gears though. I say screw the Toyota axles and go 609’s with even deeper gears

I chose full float 80 rear with 9.5. Should do fine for 37’s and my small amount of power
