Afternoon all:
Just saw where a sailor on the USS Abraham Lincoln went overboard yesterday and 4 ships are conducting a search and rescue.
It's a long way down from a carrier flight deck, hopefully they can locate that sailor and get him/her back onboard a ship.
Hopefully they have a life vest on, if not I doubt if this will turn out well.

 

I remember in boot camp learning to stay afloat with the clothes I was wearing. I hope he remembered his training.

I remember my time (aloooonnnngggg time ago) on the Forrestal. It was a long way down to the water from the flight deck at approximately 90 foot. I sure do hope they find the sailor alive. Did it happen during flight ops Carl?

Remember those days Ken. Hope they still teach it in Boot Camp. Times and training change.

Morning Mr. Rob, I looked this AM and only found stories pertaining to a search and rescue operation. Nothing on recovery or finding the sailor. On another note a sailor on the USS Shiloh was missing and presumed overboard and here he was hiding in the engine room the whole time . Court Martial time coming his way with some Brig time and then probably a dishonorable discharge or less than honorable one. Shame on him.

Looks like they have ended the search for the overboard sailor, it's now-duty status whereabouts unknown.

But wasn’t good right from the start
