Alright, got it seasoning as of an hour ago. Sprayed everything down with olive oil inside and got some Kingsford and hickory in it.

Door leaks some but I’m taking everyone’s advice and seeing how temperatures maintain before I do anything about it. Might be just fine.

When I first started smoking I had the $30 brinkman smoker . Leaked like hell but worked ok . Just used more charcoal and wood . Yours looks way better than the brinkman I had . Enjoy

I checked the weather on the phone before I fired this thing up, no chance of rain...two hours later random thunderstorm!

No rain yet hopefully it holds off.

Does a Tail Gate Lock Count?
I posted this on the Smoking Meats forum, but thought I would share here too... I have been reading about the Blackstone griddles and decided to see if I could make one.

Went to the local metal store and bought a piece of sheet steel and some side pieces, measured, cut, drilled, and BAM... BBQ griddle.

    Seasoned it up:

Couple things that are not perfect. If the heating is uneven, it will warp. It is just sitting on some steel tube risers so it is not setting on the grate. Heats up quickly and holds heat well, even though it is less than 1/8 inch thick. Gotta figure out a drippings solution though.

Tested it this evening with bacon, onion and turkey. Ended up making chopped turkey/bacon/onion sammiches..

I was actually surprised that a) it worked, and b) it tasted good!! Tomorrow is the pancake test. Not bad for $35.

I wonder if that big metal box they are in is acting like a Faraday cage.

    Love my blackstone!

To help the potential warping....mine has bars across the bottom. I guess that helps that? :notsure: I’m no design engineer.

Also, maybe you can notch out the front right corner somehow and hang one of them grease buckets like a traeger?

If there was no signal at all I could see it but dropping and reconnecting consistently is a sign of bad design or code usually.
