Is there a difference between the xrunner 1grfe and the Tacoma and 4runner 1grfe?

I don't know but am curious to know that and the difference between the trucks.
Some guy had one in the parking lot so I asked him how he liked it (X-runner) and he started claiming all this stuff about how X-runners were homologation vehicles built to let Toyota compete in NASCAR, and it kinda sounded exaggerated

but yeah I tried to search local Taco's in a junkyard database search engine (car part dot com) and when entering 4.0 V6, it also pulls up X-runners, suggesting the engine is the same.
That site tends to be pretty good about matching those things.
But I'm also not 100% sure.
It gives two options of 4.0 1GRFE w/ XRunner or w/o XRunner, I don't know why.

For example at least with the 'ALH' identification code Volkswagen diesel engine (1.9L, turbo 4 cylinder), an ALH is an ALH at the end of the day, no matter what. At least I think so. Like regarding what's attached to it, which way it's positioned in the vehicle, etc.

but then there's differences (for Audi/VW at least) if it's a 1.8T (Turbo) gas 4 cylinder,
for example say it's an AMB engine code vs AMB, sure both may technically be 1.8 liters, 4 cyl, Turbo, etc. but still have some slight differences
(code visibly stamped on the engine)

Hopefully someone will chime in who knows more about the 1GR-FE

I saw a Lexus engine the other day that said 2GR-FE, not sure what the difference is

Oil pan is larger on non xrunner. Also slight cylinder head differences on 03-04 4runner 1gr. Than theres the 10 and up 1gr but thats a completely different engine

hm, maybe taller? Would the X-runner oil pan be shorter to avoid hitting the ground due to it being a lower truck?
I heard they can pull as much lateral G's in a corner as a Nissan 350Z or something; am guessing ride height has something to do with it

Engines are the same, pretty sure the XRunner owners swap over to the 4WD pans. From what I remember lol.

Oil pickup was in a shallow spot so many xrunners went with with the bigger pan or a coupe pan to avoid oil starvation.
