Need some sound deadener advice

I am just finishing up my system build for my new truck and i think i am gonna need some Vibration insulation/deadener. Having no experience using or buying this stuff i figured i would ask.

1)whats a good product i know dynamat is the most popular but its expensive as hell. There has got to be something just as good out there thats not so pricey. Could care less what it looks like it will all be covered up.
My plan is to cover both front and rear doors of my access cab and rear wall to give you an idea of the amount i need.

Have never done a system like this before so I'm really excited to get it finished and pull out that wimpy stock unit.

2)do you have to use a heat gun to apply this stuff or does it just help conform it better?

Components Front+rear -

Polk Audio DB6501 6.5" 2-Way Component System (Pair, Silver)

Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System

Amp to drive components - kenwood kac-8405
Amp to drive single 10" sub - kenwood kac-9105D
Subwoofer and enclosure - Undecided thus far

And i figured I would do a 2 gauge power wire setup to a distribution block under the seats.

Thanks any input on a good sub and box would also be appreciated.

 

You don't need a heat gun to put it on; it just makes it easier.

Yea if it smells like ass trust me it will stay on the shelf. But thanks for the heads up.

 

I used Peel and Seal from Lowes. Sounds like the same stuff that HD sells. One roll was $16.99 and it was enough to do the whole back wall. I've had it on for about 3 weeks and it doesn't smell at all.

It's not as good as Dynamat or the others but I don't have any rattles either.

I don't know if you put sound deadener yet, but i put that Peel and Seal stuff from Lowes and it has worked great. No smell whatsoever and the tonal difference is noticeable.

 

Do not get asphalt based sound deadners I repeat do not get asphalt deadner. I advise not to get the peal and seal or anyting remotely close to it. That crap will smell like a tar roof on a summer day!! I made a huge mistake on ordering some pos stuff called fatmat (on ebay). I did not do any research and I almost put that stuff in my taco. As soon as I opened the box it smelled like ass. So I said hell NO that is not going in. I wised up then finally did some research. What I found out that dynamat is super over priced and there is a lot of knock off so called sound deadners out there or should I say roofing. Well what it all boils down to is use only butyl based deadners ie: sounddeadnershowdown.com aka SDSD (my #1 over all pick) raamat or second skin products. Don at SDSD has top notch customer skills and is the gruru of sound deadners. When I ordered he even sent me some free samples of his other products to try out.
