Thanks. I blast it on max for extended periods of time, but very single time after a few minutes it gets much quieter. And if I turn the volume down for 5-10 mins, and blast it again, its loud for a few minutes and then it gets quiet again... Crazy

No problems here with JBL; however, I don't blast!

Max volume for extended time may be overheating the amp and shutting off.
The problem could just be overheating amp.
Could be going into safety mode .

My JBL doesn't exactly do that but sometimes the bass will get quieter or seem like it drops out. What I noticed is that it only happens on FM radio, never on CD or the USB. So I figure it's losing the signal strength with that little shark fin antenna and all the hills here...

I experienced something similar and came here searching to make sure I wasn't going nuts. Bought the truck in the winter and this became noticeable in the summer with the 85-90 degree inside the cabin temperatures. Definitely a component heating up and causing a power loss. This is going to be a fun fight with Toyota since it is going to be tough to replicate.

I'm sure it's not your issue, but I'll just mention that the audio volume will "dim" when you're getting Nav/voice audio from the head unit (i.e., turn by turn announcements). If you've got the audio really loud and your nav/voice volume really low, and you're blasting Slayer or something, you may just hear the music dim and not hear the voice audio...

Another thing go into setting and turn the speed/background sensitivity volume off. It make a huge difference.

Another thing with this JBL. Your setting, as in Bass/Treble/Mids have to be set on each source as in XM. CD, AUX, FM. If you set them on one they don't transfer to other source.
