Nice did you already adjust the timing to back in spec? Make any difference in how it ran?

    Idle is lower.
There is no timing mark which means i gotta go through finding top dead center and everything. Which im to lazy. I adjusted it to the idle is sounding right and no more sputtering from the exhaust

Yeah I guess that's what I meant, old school with distributor for adjusting so it's nice and easy to adjust and get close. Smell like it's running better for the emission test?

Got my hands on a Rav4 Airbag for my IS300 wheel. Gonna drop it off at a shoe repair shop to see if they can repair the cracked leather. Sounded like they could when I talked to them over the phone. IMG_20190720_112018183.jpg

Dang meant to post this in the other thread lol.

Sweet. I'll bet it's in time now but it'll be good to verify to know for sure. How many degrees advanced is the stock timing? Toyota is usually very reserved on their timing from factory and can usually be advanced a couple degrees with no issues at all. This could give just a tad bit more pep in certain rpm range

So I changed my oil yesterday. My oil smelt burnt and Not even 4 quarts drained out. I change my oil every 3k miles or every 6 months. Always use Mobil 1 and Toyota Filter. Could my piston rings be going out? My tuck is at 197k.

Toyota does consider 'normal' oil consumption to be up to 1 qt per 1000 miles, just FYI. Not that I'd be content with that consumption, but just as an FYI.
Mobil 1 runs on the thinner end of spectrum of the weight ratings. Try running 10w-30..... but that only thickens the viscosity at ambient temp not running temp. Me personally I run Mobil 1 0w-40 and have in all of my vehicles for last few years. That would give a little bit more viscosity at running temp, so when you're cruising along at 2500 rpm theoretically you'd have less consumption. Might be worth trying for ya. And don't fret the 0w-40 rating. This is what Porsche runs in their stuff from the factory. And I've analyzed many of my oil samples and the results have all been very good.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
If it's the van it probably needs a full tune up anyway, timing adjustment, plugs, wires, dizzy, valve lash adjustment, needs a long ass drive where you work it hard to bring that old cat up to temp and probably should get a new cat too
