I think it’s a sales tactic, manual and auto will come later. I’m just guessing though.

Sure hope so, not offering a manual version of a Corvette just seems.... wrong.

A lot of sports car companies are killing the manual transmission to gain quicker times.

Which is dumb, because most people will never actually drag race their cars. And, most car enthusiasts would prefer a manual transmission.

I think it probably has more to do with saving money on manufacturing. It's cheaper to only offer one transmission.

It's unfortunate that profit has apparently become the only priority for auto manufacturers.

And that giant row of buttons on the console is fucking atrocious!

Agreed, and I guarantee that if Chevy sees more profit in releasing manual and automatic transmissions years down the road, they’ll probably do it. Maybe a big enough uprising by potential customers will get them looking at it.

That's the worse interior design I've ever seen. Seating looks very cramped and that huge console with that long line of buttons.

I guess bragging rights are more important than the actual driving experience.

They don’t have much bragging rights currently. I’m going to guess this car will run a low 7min Nurburgring time. They already fudge the numbers on their ZR1 Times. It never actually hit the time they estimated it would, then they segmented their lap times, meaning they ran a segment and averaged the rest of the lap based in that time.

They’ll always be chasing the Porsche.

They’d have to completely change the center console. Just to make arm room for the stick. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have some sort of structural frame/pillar going through the center to help in collision since engine is no longer in front to do that.

I’m also curious to see how many idiot videos we get from snap oversteer and people sending these things into 180s

I would suspect that this car will be prepared to compete against the Ford GT in 24hr Le Mans, AWD would be a nice feature for the regular driver, but it would make the car too heavy for actual racing.

They’re already talking about hybrid and electric variants so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s already a manual created sitting in a Chevy facility somewhere. But yea it would be a significant structural change.

I understand the 'quicker times' argument, but do driving enthusiasts really care about saving that extra 0.4 seconds zero to sixty over the experience of driving a stick? Granted, I say this as someone who flew to another state to buy my 6-speed ORDBL.

Furthermore, C7 owners are 4 times more likely than the 'average joe' to buy a manual transmission. Like with the new Supra, not offering a manual just seems wrong to me.

Well, that's the thing for me - can't use that power on the street. I guess a great track car for $60k. I love fast cars and I'm being a Debbie Downer, but I'd be plenty frustrated not being able to use that power. I was up by Yampa last week, there was six late-model Corvettes tooling along in a line, beautiful cars but the speed limit is 65 at best, 40mph on the twisties. Even if one wanted to romp it up, there's RV's, locals, etc coming out of side roads. Alright, Debbie Downer out, carry on . . . . .

Great 0-60 for that price but it will be awhile before anyone catches the new Tesla 0-60. Yea 4-5 times more money but that's just one insanely quick production car. Would live to experience it.

Porsche’s 918 spyder (gas/electric) can do it in 2.2s but at a whopping $1,000,000 not very many of those out there.
