I just checked my Habitat and also have the cracks. AC long bed with bed stiffeners. A fair bit of off-roading.

 

I feel like I’m gonna need to go check mine for cracks...

 

Damn, hopefully there is a good fix in the works

 

We are working on a solution right now. It may be a week or two until we have it finalized and can test fit. In the meantime, the best thing that can be done is to drill a small hole at then end of the crack.

 

..i keep checking on mine for cracks...but i have previously loaded the interface of weldzone and bedrail with globs of caulking..welds covered up..

 

I only had mine installed for few month and hardly drove the truck. This week finally had a chance to get out on a road trip out some miles on it. Some off road and noticed left corner of the habitat gets selerated / lifted from the bed by about quarter inch especially when you open the tent. No cracks or loose bolts noticed. Anyone else seen this issue ? It feels loose on that corner. Not sure if the track in the bed got damaged or bent /: it was installed by AT guys paid $500 for install and now this ....

Those that installed led strips... how did you get them to stick to the hab?

 

the Leds I bought had self adhesive backing

 

Mine won’t stick to the aluminum

 

as i see it, the Tacoma bed is made with thick plastic and thin sheet metal. both flex. the utility rail is held to the plastic bed with a few strong screws, and it has some flex. upward force applied to the forward bed corner when shell is opened, flexes the bed 'system'.

 

That seems weird, No issues with mine at all, did you try cleaning it with acetone or alcohol first? Also not sure what ambient temp is where you are but if below around 60 degrees it helps to use a heat gun on metal first.

That doesn’t look right. Something must be loose. Does it return to touching when the tent is stowed?
I wonder if there is slop in the bolt holes (in that corner) that let it slide up. You might want to remove that bolt and see what’s going on.

 

Yeah it goes back to mostly being flat ish. Didn’t do that when I set it up few times at home. Maybe some off road use did something. I can move the habitat up and down a bit by hand but the bolt seems to stay put and so is the aluminum angle that holds it down. It almost looks like the front panel of the at moves / flexes up and down. Very strange. I checked the rivets on the side they seem to be in place as well.

 

Hard to think what it might be. I went for clamps over the L-channel and haven’t had an issue. With the clamps nothing moves.

 

same thing happened to mine... would lift on both sides. AT told me to put 4 bolts through the front lip of the Habitat and angle that the Habitat sits on. So at the front of your bed by the cab we did 4 bolts across the front holding it down.

That seems to be the area where it moves /: what’s weird is that AT charged me $500
To install this, one would think they’d know about this issue to begin with. Especially when you’re overpaint for 8 bolts and some seals for those guys to put it in. They said the l channel holds it better than clamps as well.

 

7 nights in this thing all over OR. Only seen one other guy running with it.

 

I had same issue. I cleaned it with alcohol and pressed it pretty firmly. So far it holds.
