In my truck I do 65-70...a little faster on longer trips. My mpgs drop a whole bunch over 65-70. I only drive it for camping trips and truck stuff.

My commute is mostly highway at 5am and coming home around 3:30pm cutting across San Jose CA. Everyone is going 80mph at that time of the morning.

My 1st part time daily driver I do 70-75 and get 35 mpg.

My 2nd part time daily driver I do 80-85 in the morning until I find a big empty space on the highway with no cars and hang out there at whatever speed keeps me away from cars. I get 48mpg at those speeds. If I do 55 I'll get about 55mpg. In the afternoon with traffic I'm going no more than 15mph faster than traffic while lane splitting. I'd probably get better mpgs if I kept the rpms lower but I keep them around 5k so I have power available if needed.

68mpg? What kind of motorcycle is your 2nd daily driver? My wr250r only gets 65mpg at a pretty pedantic 55 mph.

80 is the fastest I cruise. The fastest my Tacoma has gone is 86 according to the gps. Uses too much gas to go fast :( 2400 rpm I get the best mileage but it's hard to go that slow.

That's the light right before (going north) the 11/15 split.

I think the prelim investigation was that both the truck and car were stopped.

65 down the mountain. 55 back up, she just won't do much more than that. In the celica, fast as I want. Say what you will about a dude in a celica, I'll never know the top speed in that thing.

geezwhiz, i cannot even go the posted speed limit in Iowa on i29 (just outside the city)
today my truck went airborne actually! (back end at least), was on a curve and landed slightly tilted in the rear before recovering and getting traction back

I shall have to call the Iowa DOT and complain some more, this particular stretch by the river has not been repaved since probably the 1980's (for real!), just patchwork all over the place with many minibumps (i like testing my old suspension out on this semi-deserted road)

i did not either in my '78 celica lol, speedometer cable was squirley in its old age of only 15yrs and was pegging that 4cyl at 125mph in 4th gear with a 5th gear buried to the tripmeter reset button that was OFF the Chart

got pulled over once in it but explained the situation and was accepted by the sheriff

Suzuki Vstrom 650...that was a one time thing. Haven't duplicated it since. But almost all my riding (sadly) is highway to and from work.

I think it really depends 1st if you have a 4 banger or 6 and if you've got a lift kit, how you maintain your truck and what type of tires you have.

At 80mph keeping up with traffic I have zero steering wheel shake
or movement and she is gliding with little effect in 5th gear.
Even the water bottle has little movement in it.

Just went over my fuelly logs.
55mpg is the best I’ve gotten in a tank. I have no idea where I got 68 from. Must’ve been dreaming or something.

nice, an 18 second ride along with the soon to be 600k man!
must be a smooth road there, not one bump!

the roads are so bad here it finally happened as i had anticipated a month or two ago after i called the dept of roads for safety issues
the car ahead of me, a few lanes over in heavy traffic, blew out and shredded their tire all over the darned road bouncing everywhere after hitting one of the numerous expansion joints that are in disrepair. had to hit my hazards to warn the 80mph drivers coming behind in the 6 lanes of traffic
the car looked to be older model and possibly had worn tires, but still....

65 is where I seem to get good efficiency but in socal going that slow when there isn't traffic is a hazard in of itself. I'm also getting a really bad shake above 65, will be trouble shooting if it's my tire balance, drive shaft bearing thing or a stuck rear drum brake. Really want it to smooth out as I want to take some long trips soon.

Generally, I drive 5 - 10 mph over the posted speed limit and stay in lane #2. If the fast lane is wide open and someone rolls up on my ass, I will not move. He/she can go into the fast lane. That's why it's there. If there's more traffic, and the average speed of most drivers is faster than what I am going, I will move down to the slower lanes. If my 5 - 10 mph over the speed limit is faster than all traffic around me, of course I will be in the fast lane. Rules of the road.

To me, going faster than that is not worth risking the safety of my passengers, myself, and the other drivers. And I don't care if I am the slowest one out there. The point of driving is to get to your destination safely. Getting there 5 minutes earlier while risking the lives of others is not cool.

perhaps someone injured in the military service
