I came out this morning to find my driver side door closed but not latched. I thought oh shit and found that the thieves had dumped my console tray and taken about $10 worth of change. The dumb f*$ks left a Victorinox multi tool ($125) and a pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses ($150). Meanwhile, I just talked to a guy across the street whose 2012 Mercedes was stolen last night.

I feel fortunate that my 1 month old Taco was not damaged.

I am 99.999999% sure that I locked it. How do these shit birds gain entry???

The cop said they just try doors until they find an open one.

Kids and druggies. You left your door unlocked. They probably tried 100 doors before they got to yours. Nothing you can do except lock your door next time.

I heard there's a device thieves can use to access your key fob when it's inside the house and then open your doors.

If you put your keys in a metal container when home it's supposed to help prevent that

    Interesting.
Average junkie or quarter grabbing 15 year old wouldn't have the skill set to drive off with a 2012 benz.

Wouldn’t locking the always searching feature on the remote prevent this too?

Hold the lock button while double pressing the unlock button. The led does a flashing sequence

At this point you can’t just walk up to the truck and the lights come on nor can you open by the door handle. You’ll have to physically press the unlock button to get the remote out of that “lock mode”

It saves battery life too, So I did this with the spare remote before putting in the drawer

My truck locks its doors automatically after 45 seconds of the fob not being inside.
