Haven't gotten one yet, we used the welders that the shop provided where the class was held.

Probably looking at getting the Titanium brand one from HF eventually



We only did SMAW in class since it was basically just a quick 4 hour crash course

 

Fly to Dallas or Houston and buy one to drive back. You can get a clean 6.7l 20k+ or 6.0l for 15k+

 

I was better at making buttons than laying down beads lol

 

What did they use and where did they get it? I bought a Killer because they sponsored my school with a bunch of new equipment for free and I liked all of the machines I worked with. Plus best color

Oh you are taking classes. I just decided to teach myself. Come up here and ill let you practice all you want. I got 2 120 volt welders. Now i kinda wanna get a 220v. But im still mediocre at welding. They look decent and I would trust it to hold not critical stuff

 

Come buy my 120 miller for 500$ so i can justify getting a 220 lol

 

It was just the one class. Not sure if I'll take an actual course or not, thinking about doing it eventually to have more career options when we leave LA. But a welding cert isnt exactly cheap

 

Probably get a 2nd gen cummins if i just wanted a tow truck. Though i do like the 2015+ 2500s

 

Just get a epa cert. you can get hired out of school at a company like 25$+ a hour

 

That'd be a sizable step down for me but then again if the cost of living is cheaper it would probably be worth it. Also need to get into something with more growth potential when we leave here.

Yeah starting pay is decent. There are guys who make 6 figures a after they worked a few years

I went and got mine haha, maybe you’ll just have to plan a Moab trip and swing by and pick em up

 

I'll just install them at camp

But in reality the gas alone would cost more than shipping them to my house
