heres what i did to improve these worthless bed cleats, i did not want to throw them out , some bungee cords dont fit these wide bed cleats , so i took some stainless eye bolts and drilled through the front and added these, at least if i need a another anchor spot that will hook a bungee this will work IMG_3597.jpg

Nice. I do wish the part where the eye screw is were more round than so flat.

Mine are very useful too. If your useless bed cleats are just taking up space send them to me, I'll pay shipping.

Kinda peaked my interest in terms of what uses you all have for them. I use them for bungee cords every so often currently, maybe a grocery-net type thing in the future and that's about. Probably under utilizing mine

I use mine to secure crates so they won't slide around. I use ratchet straps.

where does it say im tying anything down? get real, bungee's are only used to hold small things down, like to hold one 2x4 or a shovel, ect, from sliding around in the back, some of the bungees you get at home cheapo have a to small of a hook to go threw the wide bed cleats.

Do you have a bed mat? That would cut down on most things sliding around.

yes , have a bed mat , i bungee light stuff down so it does not blow out, all i was saying is those cleats could have been made thinner and out of metal instead of being to thick for some bungees . sorry for all who are offended , but on these sites as well as others , people right off the bat start bashing you with the remarks

I agree they should have looked more like a regular cleat for a boat and or a dock. I use line, and ratchet tie downs all the time, and even use 2 bungee cords to hold the rudders on my kayaks UP . There will be Hell to pay if these rudders ever get broken . They are spring loaded, and cord controlled to be Down. Coming off a roof rack on to dirt, rudders don't like to be down :)

My wife likes the OEM cleats for drying her bikinis . Somehow she pulls then thru the U shape, and pulls some part thru itself, and it stays ever since she lost the first one doing this same thing. She was all up set over that and I just snickered.

Did you try the eye bolt in one of these holes before drilling?

Have you tried to screw them loose and move them with those eye bolts drilled in. They look close and might not allow you to unscrew the bed clears enough to slide them.

they do look close, but they do unscew enough to move the cleat wherever you want to put it

I’m not bashing your decision of eye bolt placement, because I too have gotten pissed before at the size and shape of the cleats. If it works for you that’s the main thing!
