I backed into something today and crushed a tail light. I drive a black '09 TRD.

I think the oem tail lights are quite expensive - can anyone recommend a good after market tail light? I have black rims, so I'd like something somewhat blacked/smoked out but still legal. I don't want it to look ricey.

My friend warned me about buying certain brands, not sure what he meant? Are most off of ebay fine?

    Thanks!

I too busted a tail light on my 2005, I went cheap and bought aftermarket and after a couple of years I now notice my reverse light reflector is blackened, and I've had moisture in the housing and the redish finish on the plastic is flaking of the finish inside. If I was a "show and shine" type of guy I'd be upset. But I've got trail and brush scratches all down the sides and even on the side of my crappy aftermarket taillight.
You get what you pay for.

This is probably a pretty stupid question, but I have never removed tail lights before. I just broke the outer shell, can that be replaced? Or do I need a whole new tail light?

and I couldn't find tail lights on rockauto??

I found it this time. Can I trust that the tail light will look identical to the oem one I broke?
